I'll give you a taste of the world I've been living in. My dad left behind the number of a storage unit, in which he allegedly kept some important documents. Supposedly he'd been working on a will (spoilers: he wasn't) and if he was, it would be there.

He did not write down (as far as I could find) the address, or even the name of the company. All I had to work with was the number of the unit. So I had to check every storage place in the city until I found the one.

I did eventually find it (through bank records, once I got access to those), though I couldn't find the key, so management had to get somebody to cut the lock open. Then as soon as I had access to the place I got hit with "By the way, unless you want to pay $500 for another month's rent, get out." So I spent an all-nighter clearing the place out. Not the most comforting place to be at night. This resulted in my house being full of boxes I couldn't get rid of until the estate was legally settled.

That was one task out of a gazillion.

But I'm doing it. There are very few tasks left at this point. Just odds and ends that are caught in various bureaucratic snags. As of today, everything I can do is now done. There's more work to do, but every remaining thing is someone else's job for now. I am going to sleep tonight.

wonko the sane?

You may test that assumption at your convinience.

Ladies and Gents... let's talk about murry the evil skull.

Last year for my birthday, my family finally got me something off my wishlist: and I was gifted a skull mug. Now, this thing is not dishwasher or microwave safe: and my intent from the drop was to use it to hold candles.

Candles... didn't quite work. I couldn't get a standard pillar to fit, and the only other option was to shove a bunch of taper candles in there, which wound up being very, very messy and ultimately wasteful because the heat of it was just melting wax everywhere as opposed to burning for light. It did make a lot of light and heat though (so keep that in mind if your power goes out. Taper candles in a mug.) so it was pretty, even if it was not tenable.

So I took some time to try to find different sized pillars on the internet.

Then one day, when my niece was over, mom had broken out the crafting supplies and the glue gun. Murry got some googly eyes.

Recently, I had something of an epiphany: I don't need a weird or custom sized pillar candle: I just need to grab a pillar candle plate and stick it on top. So I started looking, and of course as it always is; once I start wanting something; the world has moved on and all that's left is either ugly or stupid expensive.

I went out today for a loaf of bread to go with dinner, and I stopped at the dollar store. I figured I'd check out the candle section and see: well, they had some neat holders, but no plates. So I checked out the hardware section, to see if I could get a small metal plate. Then the kitchenware for a small ceramic plate... and finally gardening...

Some terracotta pot drainers, and a tube of super glue gel later...

Anywho: I present; Murry the Evil Skull.
