I want to see how Cyberpunk and Street Fighter VI run it. Yes, I already have both games and all DLC on the PS5. But just the idea of portability is very interesting and I want to see how they compare. Plus the GameCube app should be interesting.

I just hope it has enough storage so I can at least put off getting the SD chip for a month or so.

Original Switch had 32GB of internal storage, which was inadequate even then. This time, they’re putting in 256GB which is…fine. It will really depend on the game. The Xbox Series S came with 256GB and I ended up buying an expansion card within a year.
I found a list of game sizes, and you should be able to get 2-3 “big titles” with several smaller/Switch 1 games installed without big issue.

SF6 is 49GB, Cyberpunk is right at 60GB. That said, Nintendo’s offerings are hovering between 15-25. Donkey Kong is svelte 10GB. But I guarantee anything from Microsoft or the big sports games is going to push 90-100GB, even on Switch.

I'll wait until there are more games. Ports of stuff I can already run on other consoles don't count. If I wanted to play those, I already have options.

Hell, at this point, even a new main series Pokemon might wait to see if they've actually let it cook long enough this time.

Yeah, and in a lot of cases, you can get the same games CHEAPER with BETTER performance by waiting for a sale on another device. I have a PS5 and a laptop with a mobile 4070 8GB. If I really wanted to play Cyberpunk, I could do so NOW and get better performance than what the Switch will be apt to provide,

Well, the biggest reason I wanted one day one is because I don't want to deal with tariffs in the future. Like, even if it means interest on monthly payments, better the devil you know.

My position is this:
I KNOW I’m going to end up with a Switch 2 at some point. I’ve invested so much time and resources into the current platform that it just makes sense and the improvements to games I love already is a boon. IF I see a MK bundle for sale (for retail), I’ll probably get it. But I’m NOT going to go hunting or hawking online retailers over this, either.
My big game this year is Metroid Prime 4. It’s going to be on Switch 1, and it will look fine. I can survive a few more months of not playing Mario Kart Horizon. As is, I didn’t even get the first Switch until Super Mario Odyssey came out (Fantastic choice on my part, btw)

Odd that Nintendo still hasn't sent out the notice I signed up for. I just preordered from Walmart. Monthly payment plan is how I justify it.

You mean for the My Nintendo pre-orders?

Those don't happen until sometime in May. 8th, I think?

Maybe they stalled that so people wouldn't gamble on them and try retail, thus lightening the load they face when people come looking to pre-order from them?

Could be. Well, whatever the case, I have mine pre-ordered. Unfortunately, I couldn't get the bundle version, so sometime down the line I'll just have to consider if the new Mario Kart is worth $80 to me.

There's two things keeping me from using my current Switch as trade in credit:

1. The way they phrase how the backwards compatibility makes me unsure if all games will work or only some. I want to make sure my entire library would be available.

2. Some systems you can move your account over to the new system via cloud or micro chip or whatever. But there have been some systems where you actually physically need both systems to move things over. Until I know how the account transfer works, I don't want to risk using my Switch as trade in just to find out I need it to transfer my account.

But if the Switch 2 actually is fully backwards compatible and once I get everything transferred, I may sell my Switch to Disc Replay or Gamestop or something. Or it may just be worth it to me to give it to my brother or cousin or something.
