Yeah, I’ve got no reason to get up in arms. That said, I DO see some distinct visual similarity to Cavill, which I find amusing given the hoopla around him fired/rehired/fired as Superman.

I half feel like Cavil has the 'Snyder Stigma' attached to him; and that if DC is trying to distance themselves from that as it feels like; that could be why Cavil ultimately got fired, as he's kinda the face of the Snyderverse.

When I saw Corenswet in other shows, I thought he looked more like Tom Wellings younger brother. I didn't think he resembled Cavill.

Certainly a valid point, and as always I'll give pretty much any superhero flick a go (other than Sony's crap like Morbius and Kraven).

Superman's been played so many times, in both film and TV, he's going to have a lot to live up to. I honestly wouldn't have minded if they'd just taken the Superman from the current Superman & Lois show and movie-sized it.

One thing Robert Pattinson had going for him all along is that he apparently despises Twilight even more than most of us probably do. The things we do for a paycheque.

I didn't see a new Gunn DC movie verse thread so just posting about Peacemaker s2 here.

Dumb Bunny?!? Of the Inferior Five?!?! No way!!!

On the story, I don't like that Gunn went for this plot right off the bat. Too easy to backpedal.

Still not into his dialogue and music use.

What even is this? It looks like someone had a script for a generic "american gothic" style mystery and decided "Hey, you know what this needs? Green Lanterns!". Neither character feels anything like their comic counterparts.

Yeah, this feels a bit like the "Hard Travelling Heroes"-era for Green Lantern and Green Arrow. Mixed with a little bit of Hal's time as a travelling toy salesman or trucker in the 80s.

And John feels a bit more cocky, like his pre-accidentally destroying Xanshi in Cosmic Odyssey days.

I'm not sure if they're going to have Hal be possessed by Parallax the whole time, or trying to "imprison" the entity inside of himself. Thus the grey hair, and why he seems to be hesitating to actually use the ring. That would be a easy "Jekyll/Hyde" story to build up for the finale. But, I'm just not sure if that's what they're planning.

The physical Green Lantern suit in the closet is just weird. They're probably doing their own thing, and it makes some sense to wear backup clothes in space. But, it does feel a little weird, and maybe a little too "grounded". But, that kind of goes for the whole show.

It might be a fine drama. But, it does feel like they tried to spare EVERY expense. It's not what most people would think about when they think about Green Lantern, anymore. But, I get not wanting to go fully cosmic on a brand that's been seen as a little "toxic" ever since the movie flopped. And it might be fine for a TV show. We'll see.

The trailer for Clayface. Again, this will be in continuity with stuff like Creature Commandos and Superman

I watched the Supergirl movie last night. It was actually surprisingly pretty good. Given all the word of mouth and boxoffice reports, I was expecting a total jive show. But it was surprisingly good.

Up until the part where she killed Krem. It no only went against who Supergirl is, it went against the whole point of the movie. The whole movie she was "revenge is bad and you will carry it with you forever," just to go "this is for my dog and for that girl."

I mean, I'm not going to let that one part kill the entire movie...but...I do think it was a mis-step. They were keeping really well to the "Woman of Tomorrow" comic right up until that point.

Still...it was a pretty good movie. It was like Mad Max in space. I'm sure I'll watch it again. Just that one part really bugged me...especially with Lobo right there. They could have had her walk away, have him come up and say something along the lines of "I gave Ruthie my word" and then totally eviscerate Krem...I would've been happy, ecstatic. But it was just a wrong move for Kara.

I would disagree because...

It was like Mad Max in space.
... the comic really isn't like that. It leans more into fantasy sci fi. And that's one reason I think this thing tanked. The best story in the world doesn't mean anything if you can't entice people to see it, and trading out the comic's colourful and richly detailed space fantasy world for generic sci fi industrial sludge didn't really make it look appealing.

While I do love the Woman of Tomorrow story, the art is a huge part of that comic's appeal, and this movie utterly botched that.

Fair...and I think I've heard the same from several people. And honestly, I've only read WoT once...and only because I found out that's what this movie was based on. So I don't have the attachment to it I'm sure a lot of others do.

So really, I guess this movie missed on two points.

1. Those expecting a bright comic, with a kind and friendly Supergirl that they read before DC decided to go darker and moodier, they're disappointed by a drunk, rebellious Kara.

2. Those expecting Woman of Tomorrow ran into what you were talking about.

So, maybe it was a mis step all around.

Even Clownfish, who I thought was far kinder than I expected them to be, said it was fine as a movie, but not as a Supergirl movie.

So I guess the mis step was basically...there are two very different Supergirl's in the comics...and this movie hit neither one of those feelings...making a perfectly fine movie in the process...but not a good movie as far as what anyone expected for Supergirl.

I read WoT after I saw the Movie. It’s certainly *better* but fell far short of its hyped impact (at least for me). It was a perfectly serviceable story but not a transcendent Masterpiece like it’s hyped as.

The film very much doesn’t know what it wants to be and the seams between different versions are very apparent. It’s a film that only came together in editing disparate versions together and those are almost always a disaster.

So episode 1 of Lanterns is out and for the most part I enjoyed it quite a bit. Good balance of humor and seriousness and I'm intrigued by where it's going.

Speaking of which, the absolutely moronic knee-jerk BS reactions to the end of the episode make me shake my head in bewilderment and understand just a little more how we elected an Orange Lantern.

Saw the Clayface movie.

No extra scenes.

It's very Darkman. Y'know, from Liam Neeson?

There's gross stuff but, as a horror suspense, they could have done so much more. Like, imagination wise, even without Clayface turning into monsters, so much more suspense could have been included. It really could have been scarier. More gross. More nightmare inducing.

CGI was... not so good for me. But biggest thing I hate is the love angle. Stupid lowest common denominator.

Actor makes me think of Steve Zahn a lot, haha.

It's decent Halloween fare but I imagine it could have been a ton better and scarier.
