I haven't seen the latest episode yet. I have seen spoilers that the Vulcan boy dies. I have been saying Vulcan boy and Romulan girl, but I was just thinking about it and do Ni'Varans still identify as Vulcans and Romulans?
They did in Discovery season 3, didn't they?

Saw ep7.

It's a dip from the previous amazing ep but I hope it's just a lull before the storm.

I wanted something permanent to happen to one character cuz I don't really like that person. Didn't care for the other person either. Felt like A Plot and B Plot got shortchanged. Did like an advancement for one character. It's been months so they're not moving fast.

Episode 7 was a perfectly existent episode.

I had begun to wonder if Star Trek would ever find a way to explore whether a character would choose Starfleet over an old family betrothal.

It occurred to me today that while Ake and the Kionian look human, they aren't. The only human in main cast is Caleb. Reno and Kyle and the War College Chancellor in the next couple tiers. We've never had a cast that wasn't majority human before.

Prodigy had no humans in the main cast (Real-Janeway, Chakotay, and Wesley were only supporting characters)
Forgot about them.

I had been lazily watching to see if a second season got greenlit and then saw the news yesterday that they started work on season two a couple months before season 1 came out and they have finished filming it. It might actually come out just a year from now.

Saw Starfleet ep8. Can't believe there's two eps left, geez.

The Life of the Stars.

I didn't much like Plot A BUT I get how some people would identity with the drama part. It could heal someone out there, mentally.

Plot B, I will admit to having a lump in my throat at the pertinent parts. Would love to know how a new or casual viewer who hadn't seen the relevant material would take to the scene.

Anyhow, I like it for the second plot.

But something weird. Is what's happening to Jay-Den of any importance?

In another Trek place I check, someone called previous Trek as 'competence p-orn'. I've never heard of that term before, least of all used for Trek. But I get it. It's awesome to see a well oiled story machine where everything falls into place, with Chekov's machine guns and crowning moments of awesome in a row.

Should it be troubling that they have 3 guys rooming together at a school that is intended to be a 4 years school, but only has Freshmen so far? Are they going to need a new starship every year?

Well they could have the fourth year students go on midshipman's cruises among the rest of the fleet, but that still leaves how they're going to split up years 1-3 as the current class moves on. I could see a rotating duty between ship and ground facilities as those get rebuilt and expanded too.

Well, the episode maybe answers my question, but maybe opens new questions about the format of this series. Tilly has been with the academy the whole time. In the Beta Quadrant with the Juniors. So does this crew just go through with Ake and there won't be Freshmen next year?

I'm not a Tilly fan, but she was good in this one.

I enjoyed this episode. But I'm also upset a little. I don't even remember the Doctor's holographic family. I've seen the episode at least twice I know, but it apparently meant very little to me. Anyway, it has been almost 30 years. But after having a daughter for what a couple weeks or something? And losing her and ever since he has kept everyone at arm's length. Except....Seven? I mean...it just isn't true. But if you are willing to just let the show just dip its toes in the continuity, the episode does work and mine some emotional ore.

It was interesting to get a harder scifi element than usually found in Star Trek. Kasq is in a strange gravity well that affects the flow of time.

Please excuse the thirsty "girls' love" section of this video but I've yet to find a YouTuber that can give a solid critique of this show without either being a MAGA grifter or someone without basic English language skills. If you have found this special person on YouTube, PLEASE let me know.

Anyway, I'll watch the last two episodes of this show but I hope they either get better writers or just cancel it. It's terrible. Not as bad as that awful Section 31 "film" (sic) but near enough.

I'm a fan of the themes and the ideas behind the show but it's inconsistent (characters revert back to system settings due to different writers being used for every episode), slurred speech (subtitles ESSENTIAL), endless jargon (wth were they on about when she got drunk and they started talking about hypothermia?), endless bloom/soft lighting/blur effects, etc. And why did that Klingon have a cold? What was that important or relevant to in this episode?

Then, as usual, they inserted some 'memberberries' into it to try and keep us interested. Why was the doctor so unprofessional as to not hold a FELLOW HOLOGRAM'S dying hand? Was his bedside manner sub-routine offline for that day?

Seriously, this show needs to go die in a fire. Such wasted potential.

Not cancelled so much as just not renewed... remember they approved S2 production before S1 even aired. Given the contract with Kurtzman's studio was already scheduled to end after that if not renewed, and SNW already ending anyways, it getting another season would have been the real surprise... without any additional announcements of further new series, at least.

Canceled would mean that that second season that's in the can wouldn't get aired, like what almost happened to Prodigy.

Yes, I think that's what the video stated above.

I don't know how the legal stuff works. If Kurtzman doesn't get renewed, does he or his production company own Starfleet Academy?

In any case, I haven't heard any actual positive reason to believe he or Starfleet Academy won't get another renewal. It just hasn't happened.

I would think it depends on how the contract was written, but given that the Bad Robot Kelvinverse stuff is still fine, I don't see why the Secret Hideout Kurzman era would be any different.
