I'm on console, so the choice of mods is kinda limited anyway. But I think the only one I have active is an unlimited carry weight. Maybe one or two others, but nothing really drastic.

Its been a long time since I could play anything close to vanilla skyrim. Not that it's a bad game: but the content added by modders simply flesh out the world and give the player options.

Sure; everyone always ends up as a stealth archer, but 20 different bows is better than 10.

Truthfully... other than missives, and forgotten dungeons: I mostly run weapon, armour and a couple of visual mods (like animated enchantments.). Just a layer of polish on what's already there.

Well, I finished the Shivering Isles and became the Daedric Prince of Madness. I then went back to Cyrodil and acted as though nothing at all ever happened.

So a while ago I lost Shadowmere. I had no idea where she was. But just with a random fast travel tonight, I finally found her again. So...so...happy right now.

I never usually bother with mounts in skyrim, but isn't there a way to summon shadowmere again?

This was Oblivion. Supposedly, Shadowmere is supposed to just be at the stable of whatever city you're in. If you loose her, there was a certain place she's supposed to eventually wind up showing up at (where you first meet her). Supposedly, Skyrim's supposed to be the same way.

But...you know...Bethesda.

Did you put horse armour on Shadowmere? Apparently that does things because armoured Shadowmere is technically a different horse to vanilla Shadowmere, so she'll no longer head back to the location you first find her.

I did put armor on her. There was some quest and it was the reward. There was no indication that using the armor would do that and now I can't take it off.

So tell me if this sounds daft. After finally getting Shadowmere back and saving to make sure I have a save with her next to me, I decided I was going to make sure I never lose her again....so I stopped playing.

Hey, I can't lose her if I don't play. Of course, if I don't play, I don't reap any benefit of not losing her. But I'm not gonna lose her.

Why am I like this?

Cause change is scary, and media is one of the forms of reality where stopping doesn't mean ending.

With horse armor on she's supposed to just stay where you dismount until you hop back on or you fast travel. The complications come when she gets attacked by enemies, I think, but I just avoided parking in areas where I hadn't killed the enemies yet.
