Could pivot to animated, like people have been saying...

I mean, if it's a reboot, I don't mind as much as if they were changing in like, mid-series, but...

The tl;dr-
Matt Damon and Sandra Oh are headlining a new film for Universal that features a team of brightly colored teenagers battling giant monsters. While NOT a Power Rangers movie, it seems certainly INFLUENCED by the franchise. Universal is producing the $150 million film with a release date planned for November 2027.

I’m a bit at a loss to draw any real correlations. Power Rangers is still a viable property, despite its stagnant state. So I don’t see there being an issue of Power Rangers being perceived as “the copycat”. As is, I remain surprised Disney entertained the property for as long as they did. Power Rangers really doesn’t bring much to the Disney catalog that they can’t leverage any one of the MANY properties Disney does own to do so. And aside from a handful of anime series on Disney XD, they’ve really not been too big on external IP series for a LONG time now.

Jokes on you, Super Sentai has been cancelled!

*Yes, I know there are other series and stuff Hasbro could use for adaption material, but you get the joke!

ConnerTheWaffle goes a little out of order with his next retrospective skipping Dino Fury and going straight into MMPR: Once & Always.

If I had to guess, it might be that he'll be covering Cosmic Fury in the same video as Dino Fury and this special comes before Cosmic Fury.

So I ended up backing the Dragonzord Project: https://www.kickstarter.com/project...y-morphin-power-rangers-combinable-dragonzord

I do like that one of the pledge levels includes a complete set of Zords, since I skipped the Dino Zords the first time due to lack of Dragonzord. And $50 as a base price for this isn't terrible for an "exclusive" zord, with $135 for all 6 feeling very reasonable. Though if issues with the current model isn't fixed, I'll likely cancel. It is stated in the comments that Playmates is reworking/making a new master so some things might get fixed, the biggest that needs fixing being the lack of face for Dragonzord Fighting Mode. Most would also prefer folding arms like the original toy versus them being apparently projectiles, and some want it to be bigger by a few inches.

I need to figure out what to pledge to for that. Those tiers are pretty handy...

Unrelated, but I got to thinking earlier about Tommy and his Master Morpher. It's said that only Tommy has one, and I know it's basically irrelevant now, but... should he?

I mean, he's not the only Ranger to have multiple powers.

Jason got Red Mighty Morphin and Gold.

Rocky and Adam got Mighty Morphin, Ninja Ranger, Zeo Ranger, and Turbo powers.

TJ, Carlos, Cassie, and Ashley each had Turbo and Space powers.

And there are a few others as well.

I haven't read the comics so I dunno if that's been stated there, but... That was never stated in the show. We know he has one and that he's the only one who's been shown to have one, but it was never stated that no one else besides him has one.

Unless the comics say otherwise, fans just assume he's the only one with a Master Morpher because, well, it's Tommy.

I think I read it on the wiki, and figured it came from the comics? Or maybe it did? I'm not sure. I'm missing most of 'em, and while I had the one where he uses it, I haven't gotten to read it yet.

I think a lot of the "Tommy-only" vibes over the Master Morpher really came about in light of JDF's passing and the release of the toy being the last PR project he did work for, and so a lot of people want to think of it as being his and his alone so as to pay tribute to him, especially since the Master Morpher's one and only appearance in the show also turned out to be Tommy's swan song for the whole show.

In-universe it really makes sense to give a Master Morpher to every Ranger who had more than one power set. I don't mean to speak ill of the dead, but we can't just let JDF/Tommy have a deathgrip on this franchise forever.

I think they've said before that Ninjor was the one who made the Master Morpher. So, supposedly, he COULD whip some up for anyone else who wants one. He just...never has.

They never really added any lore about the Master Morpher in the comics, as far as I remember. It's kind of just a thing that popped up in Dimensions in Danger. The comics didn't even really get a chance to use it very much.

Only if the comics said so. "Dimensions in Danger" never mentioned anything about the Master Morpher's origins.
