Axaday; I understand that you've sometimes had trouble expressing yourself, and we're all struggling to understand the world as it is, but: what the hug are you talking about?

The whole attack on the 2nd Amendment and using that as an excuse for this murder really isn't working out well for the Administration. This entire thing has been one misstep after tone deaf misstep. And even MAGAts are starting to come around. The cult, at least many on the fringes, are starting to turn.

I get what Axaday is saying. They're not talking about the murder because they know they can't hold any ground there. It was straight up murder and any attempt to frame it as otherwise will simply not fly. So instead they're talking about other things, like stuff they don't like about Minnesota and how that led to the circumstances. It's an attempt to reframe the argument because they know they have no leg to stand on.

Sorry, Oklahoma got hit with the biggest winter storm in years and either he's frozen or he got into the emergency liquor stash :D

But I kind of get what he's talking about, using the Loki "branching timelines" concept:
When an event occurs, until the information is all out, you have theoretical "multiple timelines" of events. Without details, speculation creates new scenarios of what happened. He references the OK City bombing, where initial speculation was Palestinian terrorists before we discovered it was a crazy white guy. Or January 6 where, even before the day was out, right wingers were trying to create the narrative that left wing/Democratic agitators were the ones that caused the attempted insurrection, not Trump and his cronies riling up a crowd to prevent the certification of an election.

Here, in regards to Alex Pretti, despite more information coming out, instead of "clearing the air", there has been an intentional "head burying" by conservatives, or they've been trying to redirect the narrative about how corrupt Minnesota is due to some day care money scandal. Instead of outright killing the "he came at them with a gun" timeline, that narrative has been allowed to persist because many conservatives simply won't admit that they might be wrong on something.

At least that's the gist I got...

I went off on a few tangents but the main point that is kind of blowing my mind might have been better expressed with Independence Day Resurgence added in. I'm not recommending the movie. It's fine. Whatever. But what really struck me was that it was set in the present in 2016, but didn't remotely resemble the present because it was 20 years down a totally different timeline started by a movie set in the present in 1996.

Maybe there is nothing new about this, but it felt really new to me. The daycare fraud thing has been debunked. The YouTuber lied. In a correct world, the branch where daycares stole billions from the government should have disappeared, because usually the facts come out quickly and they did. But it has not disappeared and now rather than just being an alternate fact like Jan 6 being an inside job, it has become an alternate history. It can now be the cause of all the protesting going on in Minneapolis. "The Left" needs to cover that up, so they ramped up the violence, and then Alex got caught up in it and brandished and whatnot and he is dead. Please don't forget that I am playing a role here. It's not just a different version of an event. It is a whole alternate timeline. They are seeing the same event that I am seeing, but to them it was caused by something....that didn't actually happen. It only happened in their branch.

Ah, you're trying to reason out and understand the alternate reality the maga chuds are living in.

Don't bother, because it's not built on reason: it's built on mental illness, and denial. They've been told a lie and that they have to believe the lie. It's quite literally the line from the book "1984".

Yeah, at that point you're just chasing the delusion of a dragon that isn't there. Don't follow them down that rabbit hole, that way lay madness.

Even if there's some kind of reason or logic now, it'll change the next time Trump or Fox News or whoever else tells them something different. Understanding what they thought two months ago is all but useless in understanding how they think now.

People who don't care if their beliefs contradict reality also don't care if half their beliefs contradict the other half.

There is no coherent "alternate timeline" of MAGA belief; it's just people being wrong because people they stupidly trust lie to them.

And because admitting that they were wrong or lied to is showing weakness or something equally childish.

They can't really be anything other than that, since shitty is what they are.

The same NRA that was pro-gun-regulation during the 1960s, the last time we were at this level of civil unrest.

And the Black Panthers just so happened to show up to support anti-ice protests in Minneapolis.

Well, compared to kidnapping the leader of a country we aren't at war with, barging into a consulate building is nothing.

True. I very much look forward to the state prosecutions.
I love how Bovino straight up said he got Ms. Goode's killer out of the state. That's aiding and abetting all ******* day. And since his job's already been taken, it won't be long before his short ass is standing before a judge.
