Now eventually you are going to have a Comic Book thread on this Comic Book forum, right?

A Very Merry Crossover-mas to you all!

Just a reminder, Deadpool/Batman comes out today. And you'll need to go to a comic shop to get it, because the digital version doesn't come out until sometime later.

I've already read it, and it's pretty good. It didn't blow me away, but there's a lot of really solid art on display. And Krypto versus Jeff is just pure joy. Not all the stories are winners, but it's a anthology, so there's going to be ups and downs. I think it's worth the extra money. It's a nice chonky book. It's a lot of fun to see these two groups of character get to cross over again.

I've seen this on two "pirate" comic sites.

It's kind of up in the air, right now. The company that owns Diamond may sell off the "Free Comic Book Day" branding to...someone? Maybe? And various comic companies have talked about just doing the event without the branding, in some form. Kind of like what DC has been doing the last few years. Choosing not to work directly through Diamond, or whoever ends up with the rights to the name.

The truth is, we don't know right now.

It might still happen in some form. Or it might not. And it's possible that in order to get the Free Comic Book Day books, retailers will have to order through multiple different distributors, if they want to get them all. It probably won't be a one-stop shop like with Diamond, anymore. And it was already kind of expensive to take part in for comic shops. So, I can imagine some comic shops not participating next year, or doing something different for that day. If it even happens.

It's a little early to say that FCBD is dead. But...well, it's on life support, at least.

I could see them maybe moving away from "Free" Comic Book Day, and slowly changing it into "Discount" Comic Book Day. With $1 comics or something. But, that's pure speculation. Time will tell.

Side thing but since this is the comic reading thread, anybody read the Kurt Busiek and Fabian Nicieza Thunderbolts run?

I want to know if anyone else thinks Fabian's run is better. Honestly, sometimes Kurt has no edge, since he's being too nice in his stories. So I liked Fabian's take better.

Fixer was amazing, the Redeemers vs Graviton was horrific, Moonstone was more manipulative.

Will admit that Bagley's art seems... more nice, more cartoony when compared to Zircher's more defined art. Could be influencing me too.
