It's funny how my mind's eye has always retained this color impression as what the toy looked like.... but actually looking up the toy now I see it's decidedly not THIS color; it's much bluer than this.
It does seem less saturated than the screencaps I've seen, so maybe this was an in-between thing that still hewed more pink. In any case, I wonder if there'll be a more toy-style color scheme later on. Partly because as someone introduced to this character and series BY the toy and not the show, that's what resonates more (but not THAT much more, since again I kind of conflated the two in my mind over time). But more because that extra time may help me afford what's shaping up to be a price-y meat-a-ball.

I actually preferred the toy color too, as it was what I had and I saw very little of the show. But this is Transformers, eventually he will get a Toy Color edition, a G1 Galvatron homage colorway, and a Lucky Draw Gold Plastic Fingerprint Magnet Emu War Commemorative with collector coin.

Are we even 100% sure what the show looked like? I'm sure it's less degraded than Takara's G1 shows just because it's a decade younger, but I don't know if anyone tried any harder to preserve it.
Well, the DVD masters available to watch on YouTube are certainly prettier than the old VHS rips that circulated the internet back in the day.

I think my only complaint is the plate the robot head sits on. I wish it had been in the same purple as the chest, so his head wouldn't get so lost from any downward angle. Otherwise, I'm sold.
Looks to follow the modern pattern of loosing the 'motion' gimmicks in favor of posability, though unlike Armada Megatron, they were in this case minor enough not to be a serious problem, mostly just the drill spinner and the claw grabbing. They look to have improved the elbow reverse bend for the axe-tail-hand look. I do imagine Sad Galvatron, going through all his cool posing options, but still depressed over never having achieved his lifelong dream: Sitting down.
I know the drill could pop off the original, but it was a pain to do it and I'm not sure this one can.
