Tony Tony Chopper has been revealed! For real this time!

And my thoughts on his live action design!
Hmmm...well, I don't hate it. But, I don't think it's automatic slam dunk, either.

I don't know if I like the "stringy" fur texture? I might have preferred something a little more "fluffy". But, that's likely just imitating real reindeer. I don't know if I can blame the animators for that.

Chopper's movements are also a little..."reserved" here? I'm so used to Chopper giving so many big, over-the-top reactions to things that it's a little strange to feel like he's not emoting a lot. But, live action is a different medium, with different rules. So, maybe something a bit more "controlled" is called for. It's likely a limitation of "TV" level CGI, but it doesn't look bad, really. But, it is just a bit stiffer than I'd ideally like.

I like the voice. I think it fits the character. Sound a lot like Tails from Sonic, even though it's a different person. She was Floor the Rabbit from Guardians of the Galaxy 3, though. No real notes, there. It'll be interesting to see if they change the voice or get different voice actors for Chopper's different forms, down the line.

So, I think this is...fine. I'm not blown away. But, I'm not overly disappointed, either. I think I would have personally done things a little differently with the design. But, this isn't bad. I'm...whelmed. Now, we just have to see how much Chopper is actually in the show itself. Hopefully he's in there for more than 5 minutes across the two episodes or so of Drum Island.

Chopper looks kind of cute, the CGI has room to improve a bit in the next few months, overall, I'm kind of exicited for this new season, sure it can't beat the anime or manga but it will do the job, hopefully and keep audiences intersted and getting people to check out the source

Well, it isn't all of the way into Ugly Sonic territory, but it could see it very clearly through the floor of a glass-bottomed boat.

To be fair, early Chopper could often be "ugly".

That's just being faithful to the source material.

Honestly, knowing Oda, it could even be a plot point. Chopper might be becoming more "human" as the series goes on. And as he gets closer to truly Awakening his Devil Fruit.

And I also think its all of the workouts he gets being a member of the Strawhats and the changes of suroundings, plus the number of times he used the rumbleballs, so shifting between all of his forms and using the Rumbleball to go large these days, likely takes a lot of energy and body fat as Luffy has been shown to eat a lot to regain his energy after his battles and transformations, so I wouldn't be surprised if Zoan type users require more energy than the other types of of DF users as they are pulling from their own bodies and so far we never seen the other type of users run out of energy, thou most are already masters of their fruits powers!

I had a dream a few months back that the Netflix Chopper was just going to be a CG version of that prototype art (the second in the b/w image grid)

Anyway, another new render is out of him where he looks a but more happy.

New trailer for Season 2! No firm release date, but sometime in 2026!

Ooh, we get our first look at the live-action Red Line. That's a big red wall of rock, alright!

Whiskey Peak's actually looking pretty accurate to the source material.

I guess they're adding Buggy setting up a circus at Loguetown. I...guess I'm okay with that. They need a big action set piece for the start of this season. I guess it makes sense for this version of Buggy to bring his circus with him wherever he goes.

BROGY! They're actually being VERY faithful to the original design with that nose. Kind of a unfortunate angle for his first appearance, though.

Robin! I'm...not sure if I like this actress for her or not? I want to see more before I judge. I'm not even sure what it is, I just don't get "Robin" from this particular actress, for some reason. But, we literally get 2 seconds of footage from her. So, I'll wait and see. I guess I'm more worried about Robin, because she's around longer than most of the other characters.

I have to wonder...are they doing what they did with the Baratie episode? Like, they replaced Don Krieg with Arlong. Could they be replacing Wapol with Robin as the "villain" in Drum Island? That sure looks like a hospital she's breaking into. I guess that makes sense, with Drum Island being our "finale" for this season. This is going to be a oddly structured season.

Smoker! Smoking two HUGE stogies at the same time! Well...it's manga-accurate. It does look ridiculous in live action, I'll admit. It almost looks more like "merged" two-barreled cigar, rather than two separate cigars. But, I suppose that's for practical reasons. I guess this is the ONE time I'd actually be okay with them taking something from the 4Kids edits and just have Smoker constantly be emitting smoke from his own mouth, due to his Devil Fruit.

No signs of any dinosaurs. I do hope we get a couple shots, even though they really don't factor into the plot at all.

Vivi! Yeah, it's weird to see her as a villain again. I'm betting she'll be hinted at being more sympathetic in this version, somehow.

I guess we are getting skinny-Alvida. I was wondering if the live action version would kind of gloss over that.

LABOON! We aren't skipping the whale THIS time! But, the question remains...will we get a cameo from live action Brook?

I'm pretty sure we already knew about Season 3. But, hopefully this announcement means there's going to be less of a wait between seasons. Maybe. We'll see.

How approachable is this show cold?

I've only ever watched the first episode of animated One Piece years ago and have never read the Manga and I really enjoyed this show a lot.

It reminds me of the sort of sunday morning action shows that were around in the 90s like Xena: Warrior Princess. It's fun goofy action fantasy.

-ZacWilliam, I'm looking forward to Season 2.

Its worth a watch if you are new to One piece but generally, its not as good as the anime or manga as it kind of rushes things at least in the first season and leaves out a bunch of elements from the East Blue arc and then adds stuff that going to hurt later on down the line if they ever get into the Water 7/Enies Lobby arc! Thou this is merely my view as a general fan of the anime and manga, thou if you want a more faithful verison of the manga's story line that got faster pacing for watching, wait for the remake anime called "The One Piece" to come out which is a first I believe, while the main anime is still ongoing, they started remaking it with brand new animation and no filler, in a similar fashion to Fullmetal Aclemist, when they did the Brotherhood series, starting from the ground up but running side by side to the main series which is currently in the Egghead Island arc! Watch the series if you will, but beware, trying to get into the anime will take a LONG time to catch up to the present as of time of writing, there has been 1139 eps realised, thou there are a load of recap eps where they stalled for time, so the series has seen the rise and fall of many other Shonen type series as it surpassed Dragonball along time ago

I think you'd be able to follow everything fine, if you just start with the live action version. The first season would be a good way to "sample" One Piece to decide if you want to continue or not. The live action changes a few things, but it hits most of the important beats. I'd say it's worth a shot.
