No one but strongmen want to be seen working with Trump, even in the rare instance where his goals align with theirs. That's how toxic he is.

Trump has shown, repeatedly, that he can't be trusted as an ally and will throw anyone and everyone under the bus without a second thought if he thinks it'll be in his own personal best interest. Or if they do anything to annoy or insult him. Or if he's just feeling extra pissy that day. Of course nobody with half a brain wants to work with him.

Trump is so bad at the job, he couldn't even get the world's rich asshole oligarchs and military-industrial complex to protect their own revenue streams. Any previous president would have been able to do it.
I dunno about any. "What are we going to do next, attack Iran?" was a common joke during the Bush administration*, and the consensus seemed to be that it would be a phenomenally stupid idea and that the rest of the world would just laugh at us and not help.

*There was some specific politician who was gung-ho about the idea at the time, I forget his name, but I remember a pundit nicknaming him "Bomb-Bomb-Bomb, Bomb-Bomb-Iran".

Ironbite-COULDN'T EVEN LAST A DAY COULD YOU ISRAEL!?
Israel has really reached the “FAFO” stage, haven’t they? The US is their ONLY major ally left, and they are still trying to screw things up. So, now, it’s a question of whether all the “Jewish money” in Washington is enough to offset Israel’s bullshittery, or will THAT administration finally get the “grown up talk” they’ve been needing for decades?

It will be interesting to see how things shake out if Israel’s continued military actions remain disruptive enough to shake some of the support they still maintain in the US government.

I suspect any "grown up talk" won't happen until after trumps regime is ousted. All bibi has to do is flatter the malignant narcissist and psychopath and it'll fix things for them.

All Bibi has to do is reference the full Epstein files and Trump and his cronies will do whatever they ask.

Whether or not there's any evidence that he actually has them?

Does he need them? Mossad has reach, and the threat would be enough: all of this is BECAUSE of those files, after all.

I don’t know.

Trump is petty (and unmoored from consequence) enough to just leave them twisting in the wind. Any other President would prize the alliance over short term political ease but Trump doesn’t care at all. It’s not like his voters will punish him for it either.

I mean, trumps voters are already not voting for the "people" he endorses, and trump can't run again anyway. I'd say he would definitely try, but he's not going to live to see the moment to try.

How do you expect them to punish him anyway? That's congress's job and they... aren't. Not doing anything at all, in any capacity, I mean.

tl;dr Both houses finally passed something under the War Powers Resolution from 1973. This is the first time one has actually gone through since that was passed, and Trump(of course) is claiming it's unconstitutional and will basically ignore it. There is a Supreme Court ruling from 1983 that says the President has to sign it for it to actually take effect(which kind of removes the entire point of its existence) so it'll probably be fought in the courts, and then if it even still matters by the time it reaches them, the SC will lean on that convenient previous precedent to kill the War Powers Resolution entirely.

I don't even think the court will bother: they'll just ignore it and refuse to address it until long after it no longer matters.

Round and round and round we go... looks like Trump got jealous of the Iran tolls.
