Looks like I'm just better at the game as Zero, as I cleared the lasers without Dark Hold, which got me the trophy! Yay!

(Also pretty pissed at Dark Hold. I used it on that underwater ship mini boss and it kept firing missles at me. Like the what the hell? I'll give a pass to the mavericks, but a bleeping mini boss? Bleep you Capcom.)

Yeah this makes sense. (According to a comment on Protodude's blog this was only on the Japanese direct, despite being in English so weird.)

It does figure we'd get this before anything Legends.

Much as I'd love to have Legends 1 and 2 + Misadventures of Tron Bonne (And in a perfect world we'd get that inbetween demo thing for Legends 2 and the demo for the scrapped Legends 3 we were promised)

I honestly doubt Capcom is going to release anything related to that series at all. :/

The main event comes last. ;)

Not exactly; there was a trailer with gameplay in the Direct, but in Japanese. He suspects that maybe the English version wasn't ready for a trailer yet.

Anyway, this was the highlight of the Direct for me, even though we didn't actually get it in ours.

I just hope they do something to mitigate the random encounters in 2. That's where the whole thing lost me. Loved 1 (Dragon, natch), but never got to play 3. Partly because I never finished 2, partly because I don't think I could afford it at the time.

It's time for the: "Beat the Black Devil" part of the game run. I hate this boss.

Gotta do it three times if I want the trophy for all the endings. Bah.

I hate its pattern is never quite the same. I hate its stupid aura takes up half the arena. I hate the eye can form anywhere, and I hate it has to shoot energy at you with said eye.

I know I've done it before, I beat the game with all three people on the PS1, but I'm not sure how I did this. I'm also annoyed that I'm pretty sure I STILL can't save after it either. It'd just make me re-do all the stages.

I got a copy of Zero! The second issue is for my friend who got a me a copy of Classic and X!

Question tho, I've only started on Zero 1. I only beat that Anubis boss in the upper left and haven't met the other three on the cover.

Soooo, uh, I doubt I can finish the Zero 1 to 4 games any time soon. Would I enjoy reading the Zero Timelines even without playing / finishing the games?

Would ask the same question on Zero X Timelines.

Well, slight spoilers, but the comic basically adapts the beginning of Zero 2. The comic is basically set in between Zero 1 and 2. So, it does kind of spoil the ending to the first Zero game. But, if you already know about the ending of Zero 1, you can probably read it without any problem. It's more of a character study for the Bosses than anything else. If you don't know how the first Zero game ends...maybe wait until finishing the first game. Zero 1 has a memorable enough ending, that I don't want to spoil it for you.

The ZX Timelines issue hasn't come out yet. I think that one's out October 1 (unless it gets pushed back again). So, I don't know about that one.

Ok, I got my Timelines Megaman and X issues. I'll read Zero after I finish the first game sooo I have less than two months before Timelines ZX and Legend come out.

Quick thoughts.

Megaman - nice art but the explosions just gave it that orange hue with the colors. Instant bonus points for having Tango around. I'm not wild about Blast Man (I hate Bakugo from My Hero Academia) but he had personality. Sad that Torch Man didn't even get time to fight. Really, this could have been Blast Man and Torch Man having a fight too but, oh well. I didn't actually get Blast Man pressing the Metools to start them off as time bombs at first. Torch Man's ideology about using interesting but dunno about the sentience stuff. I was confused at the ending with Blast Man attacking again and why there's a To be continued but...

Megaman X - nice art again but there's something awkward about some of the layouts. I'm quite disappointed that it's not a new story but just X going thru Chill Penguin's stage. I know this already. I want a new take, a new angle, darn it! Storm Eagle was my fave X1 Maverick, would have wanted his side of things. The ending with the Metool walking to Chill Penguin's body makes me realize that the To be continued means that the Timelines really follows the Metool walking around. Legends is the final issue when he will reach the end of the road.

Anyhow, Megaman might have just been a stretched out fight but Torch Man's side of things elevates it (even though he didn't fight). I'd prefer something like that over just the retelling that happened in X. I hope the three other issues follows the Megaman type of story, fight or otherwise.

The end is where Rodi-- I mean, MegaMan throws him out of the side of Elysium to go tumbling through space before blowing the place up.

Well, I finished Megaman Zero 1 in casual mode. My thumbs hurt! It's still a bit jarring when the poor bots are sliced in half when they die. Also weird that the ninja boss (Hidden Phantom) died but the other three were still alive.

Then Zero fought an evil copy of X then the place exploded and the game ended with Zero about to fight a whole bunch of enemies, ending with a pic of him slicing one up. Weird cut off ending!

I actually read the Timelines Megaman Zero after the game. It LOOKED like it continued right after the ending scene but probably not.

Ian Flynn wrote it (woo!) but it's really an in-between Zero 1 and 2 story. Sage Halpunia (Harpoon-ia? But he's a wind guy) told the people that evil X and Phantom are both doing missions and won't be seen anymore. So nobody knew they were dead except for Zero? Since Zero didn't meet up with Ciel anymore, she didn't know either? Weird.

I knew guy with the hair Elipzo (Eclipse o?) is evil since he's smarmy, haha.

Sage, Fenrir (Fefnir?) and Leviathan kill some humans (?!?!). Then Zero going into a fight and issue ends.

Dang, there's a lot in the issue and am glad I followed the advice and did finish the game before reading it. Art is good. Flynn does his research as usual. But since I'm not a fan of this incarnation of Zero, I don't think I enjoyed the issue that much. Oh well. The Metool is still around, yeah.

Ended up playing Megaman Zero 2 for the intro to fill in what happens next from the comic.

The game says its been a year?!?! Why in the world did Zero not let himself be found by Ciel? Very weird. The comic gives the origin of his coat (guy just gave it to him) but he does lose it anyway.

So intro stage ends with Zero thinking he's too damaged and collapses. Then Sage Halpuniaspelling SAVES him?!?! What?!?!?

Eclipzo looks very evil with the hair flip at the base. Zero is fixed up and I love the sorta bionic commando chain rod grappling hook thing. I finished the Phoenix guy's stage (he's so hard to beat) and I had to stop.

I'm curious about Sage H saving Zero but I think I have to play Megaman ZX 1 to prepare for when the issue comes out (I'll as you guys what i need to know when it comes out).

Is ZX much like Zero? The Zero game doesn't feel like Megaman X to me.

The ZX games play a lot like the Zero games, yeah. Although, you do have to pick between two characters for who you're going to want to play as. I'm not sure how the comic is going to handle that. Do two stories for both characters or just keep it vague enough to work for either character? In the first game, there's a lot of small differences between both versions of the characters, but not really many major ones. In the first game, it's mostly just aesthetic, but the second game has bigger differences between the characters. Whichever one you pick, just try and pick the opposite gender for the sequel game.

Yes and no. I think they're generally easier, there's the aforementioned two-character thing, there's the whole MegaMerge mechanic (which gives you a LOT more abilities and skills than you get in Zero, save for maybe if you unlock specials with high rankings there), the tone is a little lighter (IMO), it's got kind of a Metroidvania/search-action thing going on...

Graphics and sound are fairly similar, though, as you might expect.

ZX is probably a little closer to X in some regards (the Double MegaMerge is essentially like X's Variable Weapons System or armor upgrades at work). Like its name, I guess you could see it as a cross, with some other new elements thrown in.

I'll play some Zero 2 (to see what happens to Harpuia, apparently a Harpy, not a Harpoon, haha) but I'll finish ZX 1, in case it's required playing to read Timelines ZX.

Gosh dang, my thumbs, haha
