He-Man, and also the Masters of the Universe

In terms of Chronicles... I've seen He-Man, Skeletor, Man-at-Arms, Triclops, and Trapjaw with decent regularity.

So, has anyone else had trouble finding figures at retail? Like Target had an end cap but only had four figures, the role paly toys, and a battle cat. Meanwhile, Walmart seems to be denying the toyline's very existence. I had easier time finding the 200X series toys....
Same. At least here, it seems Walmart never bothered to stock the line for the theatrical run. We'll see how the fall sets look next month. But I find it HIGHLY frustrating that Walmart's support is so lackadaisical when they seemingly got the playset as a timed exclusive and the entire Origins deluxe range for the film.

Target is the only store I've seen to carry the line, and while it was well stocked around the film's release, last time I was there it was a bit sparse, which I take as a good sign that stuff is selling.

So, I got a nice paycheck recently, and I'm thinking that while I'm mostly out of the MotU collecting business for now, I do really want that 20XX Roboto figure.

Is that out yet? And am I going to have to go anywhere in particular to get it?

Sting-or came in the mail today. I had really liked his design and been planing to "get him eventually" for months and then suddenly he was sold out at Mattel end of last week. So I immediately snagged him at like $5 over retail off ebay. Same thing happened to me a couple days later with the new Slime Pit. The original was a favorite and I'd been planning to grab the origins one from Mattel and then it was sold out, so I ran to BBTS immediately.

Anyway Sting-or is indeed cool. The included comic is weird though. It establishes the Insect races as having ruled the planet prior to Preternia (Pre-Preternia?). Oh and apparently the Ant-men are heroic and inform on the evil bug races to the Masters.

The part introducing the main character clearly needed editing though. It introduces him as Sting-or. The next panel says the Second-in-Command of his entirely Insect species army is "Stinggar" but the artist has drawn Stinkor (and will continue to draw him for the rest of the book). Stinggar-drawn-as-Stinkor then calls Sting-or "Lord Scorpto" instead.

-ZacWilliam, wondering if the artist couldn't find a reference for a "Stinggar" and just guessed Stinkor, of if Mattel didn't want a made-up character like Stinggar featuring too much and had the guy draw Stinkor over him or what happened?

Hmmm….I think we found LG’s secret fetish here… :p

Some new details have come out about future Core Figure releases. Following a listing for “GID Trap Jaw”, many of those “GID” figures in Walmart’s system are now saying “Battle for Subternia”, indicating a 2027 refresh for the back end of the Movie Core assortment. It remains to be seen IF these items will even see retail at all though. Hopefully, they’re not a Walmart exclusive capsule (because Walmart’s support has SUCKED for this film).
Listings point to Evil-Lynn, a He-Man variant, and Trap Jaw in this assortment. Truthfully, a Subternia concept DOES work well with a Glow in the Dark feature, and Cyberworld has shown we can still get glow in the dark features on mass retail kids toys.

Mattel has a solid history of OFFERING these sort of extensions, but availability (especially in the US) has been iffy. The 2022 “Savage Eternia” extension for the Netflix MOTU series saw no physical distribution in the US, nor did the “Gamma Fusion” refresh for Lightyear in 2023. Probably going to end up a “if you see them listed, better jump on them” sort of deal.

Sigh.

I'm waiting for Sketchbook Skeletor. He was supposed to be out around the 9th. Then Target pushed it back to the 14th and listed it as backordered. This morning they did it again to the 29th. :p

A few people seem to have found them in stores but only scattered. No sign of them near me.

-ZacWillian, I believe the next wave of Movie Origins got pushed back too but Skeletor is the one I'm waiting on.

I found this at Target today.

Honestly, except for the coloring and footwear, Skeletor is easily the one of the "Original Concept Art" figures that changed the least from concept to final design. Even the chest plate with the bat design and the cross bones is the same.

IMG_4059.jpeg

Here, the footwear changed, the sheild design changed. The battle helmet changed. The chest guard and the loin cloth is more or less the same, but definitely more changes than Skeletor.

I didn't want to take pictures of all 3 faces, but trust me, there's differences. Then there's the staff instead of a gun and the obvious clothing changes.

Like, trust me. This Is soooo totally the same guy.

Absolutely the same guy. What? You trust me, don't you?
