The trouble is, there's no such thing as infinite growth. There's a finite amount of expansion possible, there's no way around that.

Just because it doesn't exist doesn't mean companies aren't hunting for it. They've been blowing up their long-term business for years now to get as much immediate growth and profit as possible. It's a damn epidemic at this point, and the bubble will eventually burst, it's just a matter of when.

Preach it. The company I work for buys whole-hog into the "if you're not growing, you're dying" philosophy, so I'm saddled with all kinds of idiotic mandates in pursuit of retail business that simply doesn't exist in my territory. Two of our retail-heavy competitors have closed their doors in our town, the last one several years ago. If there was any more business to be had, our store already had it. But, thats not good enough for the pin-headed corporate morons in charge...
