Isn't there supposed to be a Youtube follow up to the "Awakening" segment where
Bumblebee is the leader of the new Coalition of Evil Robots? Complete with an upcoming toy and everything?
Surely that IS the fiction for this new line, right?

expecting modern hasbro to give any new characters bios or anything beyond a brief promotional blurb (if even that) is genuinely expecting too much out of this company

maybe takara will give them personality if they decide to use some of them in their comics
They've been posting bio cards for G.I. Joe Classified on social media. Granted most are characters that already had them in earlier formats but brand new characters are getting them as well.

Something that occurred to me is that, what if they’re playing with an “Injustice” type scenario? Optimus Prime (possibly under some subtle corruption he resisted in established continuities) takes a step farther than he did before SOONER, and destroys Megatron earlier than “normal”. Or kills him instead of arresting, something like that.

Without Megatron to hold the various Decepticon factions together, the war gets messier, with more collateral damage and Optimus Prime keeps upping the ruthlessness to fight back?

It becomes a “For the twist of fate, goes thee” scenario instead of fridging a character (like Elita 1) or “Optimus was always corrupt on some level”.

My mind is cooking on this, I’ll have to do a brain dump tonight. This could lead to some interesting angles, especially now that Generations is FAR less restrained to existing media looks.

Probably, but I guarantee whatever my jank ass comes up with will be a LOT more interesting.

Kinda like Cyberverse's Megatron X scenario, only with Optimus instead of Megatron.

Or the Justice League cartoon's "Brave New World" in which the League became the Justice Lords.

I'll change my tune and go all in on this if they commit to Bumblebee as the new evil overlord of Cybertron. Bitch ass Bumblebee in Cyberworld? No thank you. Corrupt with power asshole Bumblebee? Yes please.

I have learned over the years that what the fandom dreams up for a concept of a plot is usually an order of magnitude better than what we get.

"Injustice" is not my favorite comparisons, but mostly because I'm not a fan of the execution of that, or really the core concept. (Odd that I'm okay with the Autobots being dirtied up a bit, but Evil Superman rankles as just THE most tired cliche to my mind. I guess that more traditional side of superhero comics has just gone through enough deconstruction for my tastes, and the comparatively younger Transformers brand is still just kind of exploring pushing its narrative boundaries.) But as a shorthand to get the broad strokes across (and you did say you intend to avoid the fridging that happened there), I get it.

This got me thinking, it might be interesting to have Optimus do something like this -- but also immediately get taken off the board. IDK, do what every 1986-stuck fan has been whining about for 40 years and have him shoot a surrendering Megatron dead, only to get taken out shortly after. Rumor has it that Megs was reaching for a hidden pistol, but nah, that's just something weak Autobots tell themselves to avoid sullying their memory of their precious fallen leader, virtuous to the last!

A chaotic power vacuum on BOTH sides could be interesting. Decepticons splintering into factions led by Starscream and Scorponok and Straxus, with Soundwave quietly putting one together that triumphantly reveals an (impostor!) Megatron to lead the uprising. The Autobots could have more aggressive-minded leaders take charge, citing Optimus' final actions as THE long-awaited taking it to the next level needed -- and that's what won the day, wasn't it? "Even Optimus had to go beyond his patronizing speeches."

Even as far back as Budiansky the fiction did dabble a bit with having some such sketchy personalities on the Autobot side anyway. (I wish he'd had more complexity with the cons too, more conflicted or disaffected characters.) But this time have the gray on both sides from the get-go rather than having a Phase 2 shoehorn it in to limited effectiveness (too much to need to undo or handwave away at that point).

Honestly, I'm less interested in the Super Cool Evil Heroes and more into the possibilities of the freedom-fighter Decepticon movement. Especially if you have some POV characters in there who drank the Kremz-aid and are starting to panic because the leadership and the big guns on the team are kinda more than they bargained for.

But lol, we're not getting any of this, are we. It's fine!

I don't think that we need to even allow the opportunity for him to take over the toy shelves at Walmart again. Man that was a horrible 6 months when nothing but Ironhides was on the shelf....

I do admit to, if we have to have evil Autobots, that I do kind of like the idea that it's not a clean swap. I like the idea that the factions are both muddled up and you never know who's gonna be on which side. If they do have a Youtube series to go with this, that will be an interesting aspect of it. You see Sunstreaker rolling up into a battle and you really won't know where he stands until he starts shooting at someone.

I don't really have an issue evil autobots from a fictional standpoint(Personally, the whole concept of the war is very played out to me, so I've long since accepted I'm going ot be dissatisifed witih a lot of stuff) but I also have zero desire to pick any of them up.

As for what has been revealed

-Deluxe Collapse - Sounds interesting (though i'm worried it's a retool of the Junkion truck) and at a certain time in my life I would have snapped him up.. but shelf space is at a premium and also these are getting so expensive that I'm gonna need to cut back. Unless we get some good fiction with these new characters, I'll probably pass.
-Deluxe Hydraulic - Might grab this one purely on the basis of Steamrollers are cool, otherwise see Collapse
-Deluxe Go-Bots Megatron - Hilarious to see, but not really interested
-Deluxe Mirage - I'd need to see exactly how it is "stylized" given I just bought that three-pack. Probably a pass
-Voyager Demolishor - Hell yeah
-Voyager Ironhide - Guessing this a "corrupt" versino of the SS '86 mold
-Leader Scorponok -depends on how easily he stands in for Marvel/IDW Scorponok; he could be a good foil for SS IDW Fortress Maximus
-Leader TM1 Megatron - Wasn't really interested before, and hearing it's not only an improper retool of the Kingdom figure, but is also likely compromised for a combining gimmick has put it at negative interest.
-Leader NASA Astrotrain - Cool idea, but I already have this figure and don't feel especially compelled to get it a second time.
-Corrupt Capsule: As I said, I don't have any issues with evil autobots, conceptually, but I have no desire to buy figures of them. Also, as I mentioned earlier, massive eyeroll on yet another set of leader dinobot redecos.

Looking at how little I'm grabbing here, maybe I'll pick up the new constructicons after all.

Not to call you out or anything, but since you put it so well, let me quote you here:

-Leader TM1 Megatron - Wasn't really interested before, and hearing it's not only an improper retool of the Kingdom figure, but is also likely compromised for a combining gimmick has put it at negative interest.

So is it really a remold? I mean they are going to have to add the combining gimmick as well as all the changes that are needed to make it look like TM1 Megatron, you would think that it would have been easier to start from scratch. Could it possibly be like the whole Energon Starscream situation, where it's just inspired by the original design? I guess until more than one person has seen it and is talking about it, then we just wait, but it sounds weird to me that so much was changed and it's called a remold.

I will laugh so hard if the combining gimmick is similar to how the Thirteen's artifacts ended up combining.
