Starfox (SNES)
This game was amazing back in the day. It really showed off what the SNES could do with 16 bit. I don't know if it was the first game to use polygons (I don't think it was). But it certainly gained the attention. It was a strong first venture
Unfortunately, two things kill it for me. No aiming reticule really makes things hard to hit. Star Fox 64 dod everything this one did only better, making this hard to come back to.
A+
Starfox 2 (SNES...unreleased until the mini console)
It's...okay. But if there's one thing that will make me stop playing a game, it's having a timer and making me have to go multiple places at one before the enemy attacks. It's why I don't like Tower Defense. It's why I don't like the Dynasty Warriors type games. I want to be able to focus on one thing at once.

Star Fox 64
I think it says something that this has been on the N64, remade for 3DS and now remade for Switch 2. They hit it out of the park with this one. And while N64 graphics on a CRT typically hurt my eyes these days, I can still go back to this on original hardware and still enjoy it.
S
Star Fox Adventures
Let's see...first appearance of Krystal, awesome. Every other NPC in this game, not so awesome. Zelda like gameplay, awesome. Zelda like gameplay in a Starfox game, not so awesome. Krystal being so awesome that she deserves to be mentioned twice, awesome. The fact that Nintendo pulled another Doki Doki Panic, not so awesome.

Starfox Assault
So I seem to remember a lot of backlash for the ground missions. I'm going to be honest, whether through: time, trauma repression or nostalgia...I just don't remember the ground bits too well.
What I do remember is having a lot of fun with the Arwing sections right up until I realized one thing...
If I can't defeat a boss with full powered lasers and a full stock of bombs, what chance do I have being checkpointed at a point where now I have to face the boss with weak lasers and minimal bombs?
B
Starfox Command
Remember what I said about being pulled in a bunch of directions at once? I liked the Arwing sections. I absolutely hated the command sections. Add in the character assassination of Krystal and the fact that she has never appeared in Starfox since this game...
D-
Starfox 64 3D
I mean...it's an uprezzed, 3D version of Starfox 64. That in itself gives it a rating advantage. Giving it a mode to replay any stage that's been unlocked just makes it even better.
S
Starfox Zero
*sigh*
I think they were too ambitious with this one. They were given tools and they had ides how to use every single one of them. Unfortunately, this lead to a complexity disaster.
You're looking at the main screen. You're looking at your WiiU controller screen. You're having to deal with both at the same time.
It's a learning curve that I finally overcame when I first tried to play it...just to take a break for a bit and coming back to the same learning curve again!
Starfox has always had problems keeping a steady audience past N64. When you're trying to keep a franchise living when it's audience is already wary...KEEP IT SIMPLE, STUPID!

Starfox (2026)
Okay, so far I've only played the demo and Corneria of the full game. And sure, it's yet another remake of a game that's already been remastered.
But sonfar, it is a beautiful remake of one of the best games ever made. They tightened up the controls that were already tight. They beautified a game that was already beautiful. They deepened the lore.
I've only beaten the first mission plus the demo. So I can only offer a preliminary rating. I'm loathe to give an "S" rank to a game I've only played the first stage of. So I'll have to come back to this later.
A+ (tentative grade)
