Last week, we also lost game composer Bobby Prince, aged 81. Prince was most famous for his collaborations with id Software, scoring their initial Commander Keen series and Wolfenstein 3D, before composing the score and sound design for Doom and Doom 2. His work on Doom would ultimately be selected for preservation by numerous government and industry associations. He would partner with composer Lee Jackson to create the iconic scores for Apogee’s Rise of the Triad and Duke Nukem 3D.
I think that calling him a composer for Doom might be a bit misleading considering how notorious Doom's soundtrack was for ripping off famous bands. Still, RIP!
