Can never go wrong with Gary Chalk.
Except for in the Armada episode "Tactician" (in which Thrust and Jetfire debuted), in which Chalk had clearly left all of his effort, talent, and care at home when he came into work that day, giving one of the most bored, robotic, "I don't care"-ish performances of his entire career in that episode. And no one on staff recording for that episode either seemed to notice or care because that wooden, half-baked performance from Chalk actually made it into the episode.

Given the crunch involved in Armada's production, they were probably just happy to have gotten the script recorded at all.

I mean, they were dubbing a show meant for five year olds in Japan. I am surprised they weren't all drunk out of their minds,
I mean, Car Robots was aimed at the same age demographic in Japan and its English dub of Robots in Disguise had excellent voice acting, and that dub was likewise rushed out of the gate as a last minute filler show.

Well, RID really wasn't aiming for that young of a market. Armada's director had said that they were going for a younger audience for Armada than previous shows, aiming for the ages 4-9 audience. Honestly, RID2000 had a much better source to work from.

It aired on Fox Kids, which was always aimed at an elementary school age range.

RID had an actual FINISHED show to work with. I feel like that makes a big difference.
Finished animation has little to do with the point of voice acting quality that I was referring to.

Also, is that BOT SHOTS Shockwave?
That the pink one?

Because that's the only one I can't identify:

L-R, front to back:

Bumblebee, Animated Soundwave

Jazz, Wheeljack, Cliffjumper, Full-Tilt

Ironhide, Tracks, ???

Impactor, Ratchet

Astrotrain

I was hoping that the few dalliances into Hot Wheels vehicles would lead to a whole line of the G1 cast (and more) in traditional 1:64 Hot Wheels cars. That never really panned out, but these definitely fill that niche. The Cybertronian mode ones don't appeal to me as much, but I am very excited about having the main cast in their earth vehicle modes.

This *might* be the first Wheels wave where every single one is appealing to me. I shall seek these out with care - and alarm!

Last night at walmart, I actually saw a hotwheels multipack with G1 Jazz alt mode in it.

If you see it again, do you mind taking a pic and posting it? I would be interested in finding that, curious what multipack it is in.

I found an old Hotwheels or Matchbox Martini Porsche once at a flea market. It's exactly G1 Jazz other than it's number 5 instead of #4.

EDIT: This isn't mine, it's an ebay auction, but mine looks pretty much just like it. Apparently it's Tomica brand.

This next wave is pretty cool. Kinda bummed at the lack of Nemesis Star Convoy, but then that's a pretty new thing. Interestingly, this also calls him Star Optimus Prime. It's a neat lineup that makes good use of its altmode slots (I'd rather not have those anymore since the Wheels series is a thing, but they're just not for me I guess). SG Goldbug is kinda meh in execution (and I guess the G1 mold-based looks are just standard now), but I love that we get Windblade AND Arcee!
