Anti-Semitism

I don't follow his work or his views closely. He does seem to have some pro-envoromental views and he is anti-Israel, but I have no clue what his views are on other issues. Being anti-semetic isn't really a left or right thing though. Seems to be rather common on both sides, unfortunately.....

One CAN be against how Israel is treating Palestinians while simultaneously being ok with an Israeli state(generally the view I have) but given his comments that doesn't seem to be the case.

Last night was the first night of Hannukah. My stepson made some antisemitic jokes before we lit the candles and did the Nazi salute during the prayer. All his presents are being returned.

I don't know what your family situation is like or how old this dude is, but if any kid or stepkid of mine turned out like that, he'd be thrown out the second he turned 18 and written out of the will.

No that's where the sweet Valencia orange goes. So they won't leave a bruise and you let them know who's boss.

Ugh. With any luck he'll grow out of it. Lord knows I was a bit of insufferable jerk with questionable views back when I was 16, though I don't recall being purposefully antisemitic(I knew people who were, though). If he continues down that alt-right path, though, you might have to cut him off once he becomes an adult. Just keep the door open in case he comes to his senses.

When I was 16, all I had any interest in was getting laid, and being a virtual Nazi wouldn't have been very conducive to that goal. What is it with kids these days?

wonko the sane?

You may test that assumption at your convinience.

The most popular content producers on social media, which is absolutely saturating their lives, are literal hugging nazis, or slavers like the tate brothers.

I'd make the argument that we're simply not using social media properly: but it's not worth repeating this particular experiment.

We were 16 at a time when there were still a lot of WWII vets still around to set us straight and social media didn't exist to prop up alt-right influencers.

I remember making transphobic jokes at around 16 despite being a closeted trans woman..... Granted I didn't spend much time trying to get laid. My libedo was never that high.

I've come to the realization I could be killed going to synagogue. Or otherwise just celebrating being Jewish in public.

And I'm not handling this well. I'm not in a great headspace at the moment.

I have hope that though things are heading in a dark direction right now(on multiple fronts...) things will get better. I'm not Jewish, but I do sincerely hope those of you who are stay safe and will do what I can to try and make it get better, even if all I can do at the moment is try and nudge peoples views in a more sane direction where I can.

Thank you 🙂 It means a lot

“I take my attachment to Christian values seriously, so I celebrate holidays that are close to me as a person,” Nawrocki said, when explaining why he wouldn’t continue the tradition

Are you the President of “Nawrocki” or the President of Poland? As a citizen, you’re completely free to celebrate or not celebrate whatever the Hell you wish. If *you* don’t want to celebrate Hanukkah because you’re Christian that’s perfectly fine but you can absolutely light a symbolic Menorah in a Country that lost 5 million Jews in the Holocaust.

Unless of course you’re a right-wing piece of jive and holy hug why was “stop the menorah lighting” EVER a hugging wedge issue? You don’t have more important things to hugging worry about being that close to a war-mongering, expansionist Russia?!

Controversy is growing after a report about social media activity linked to New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani’s wife.
Rama Duwaji is facing criticism after liking social media posts about the Oct. 7, 2023 attack on Israel that are drawing strong reaction, particularly within the Jewish community.
An investigation by The Free Press found that Duwaji liked an Instagram post that referred to sexual violence reported during Hamas’ Oct. 7 attack as a “mass rape hoax.”
News 12 independently located the post and another that Duwaji liked, describing the attack, which killed about 1,200 people, as “collective liberation.”

This comes after Mamdani added someone to his inauguration committee who had described it as "heroic" to tear down posters of Israeli hostages.

And just like his bestie Trump, Mamdani could stand in the middle of Fifth Avenue and shoot somebody, and not lose any of his supporters.
