As someone who has yet to watch One Piece, I would love for the treasure to be Friendship or some very Jump-shounen-series thing like that.

Then you are missing out on a grand adventure as One piece isn't about the destintion but the adventure to get there!

I'm currently in the process of watching After War Gundam X, well a rewatch after along time and honestly, I gotten further in than I did on the most resent Gundam series as that one was just a mess, some good ideas but bad execution on top of having the show reduced to one core instead of two or more!

I can't help but think they're gonna retrieve it when the series is over, and it's just gone. No one reported finding it. There's little to no evidence of what took it. Just gone. (That would be pretty funny, though).
What would be even more funny if it was picked up (and discarded again) by sheer accident.

Which is the impression I get from my favorite (now fragmented) cosplay troupe....

Looks right visually!

Looks nice, for sure!

I just been watching the latest ep of Dragon Hatchling, it was pretty desent but the main problem with the series lies in its story, its not really setting up for anything beyond the forest setting until the last moment, thou I wonder if Black Lizard will get her lost skill back?

So, I was today years old when I found out there was a live-action sequel to Whisper of the Heart, set 10 years after the original story. I started watching it, but then realized that I want to go back and watch the original first. What I've seen was pretty good, though, and seemed relatively faithful to the original anime.

Been on a binge rewatch of Black Clover before it returns, about my favourite scene is where Astra is returning to the battle after getting knocked down into the water and how he shoots upwards to face the elf leader while the other elf is suddenly shocked to see him rise up so rapidly, not sure why, its just a cool scene to see Asta rise up so rapidly and the guy look is like "WTF?"

So, I introduced Haywire3 to Robotech this weekend. I could probably have let him watch Macross proper (he's almost 8 and can read subtitles quite well), but I was wanting something dubbed so I could listen along while I worked. He started really getting into it. Before we turned it off for the day, he said "I think Rick and Minmay are starting to like each other. They're going to be a pretty good couple." Or something to that effect.

Oh, boy, is he in for some shocks if we keep watching the series...

There was a time when I would have been excited for this, but unless it turns out to be something amazing, I think I will give this a pass.

Watched the first episode of the new Ghost in the Shell series on Amazon Prime. Initial thoughts...

1. Damnit, guys! I can't read subtitles that fast!

2. Wow! This is actually staying really close to the original manga.

I'll probably keep watching it...particularly since it's included with Prime and i don't have to buy anything.

I mean, it is very anime. But I like anime. So I guess I got to ask what you mean by "too anime."

Huh, maybe I'll give it a shot. From the trailer it looked a bit too anime compared to the original/SaC for my tastes.
As Caldwin said, this is based on Shirow's original manga, which was written in 1989. The "original" you're talking about already toned down the zaniness and fanservice to focus more on the noir-ish aspects.

As one reviewer has commented; this is a 90s OVA made with 2020s techniques and budget.

So, the second and third episodes of GitS are on Prime now. I'm on the second episode. Umm...putting it sensitively...there's a part in the manga that is...naughty...in the original Japanese but got heavily censored for America. The cartoon is...naughtier than the United States version, but still toned down from the Japanese version.

You know...for those keeping score.

It looks like it's overly cartoony/cutesy in comparison to the previous entries in the franchise. 🤷
That's what a lot of anime looked like the late 80s :p

The exaggerated expressions were common in anime and manga, in general. Watch a couple episodes of this new Ghost in the Shell, then dig up Bubblegum Crisis or Dominion Tank Police (itself based on a Masamune Shirow manga) and you can definitely see Science Saru is vibing along those same lines.

And I'm here for it

Fun fact: the entire reason that scene involves The Major and another lady is because Shirow 'didn't want to draw a naked dude's butt'.
