They did use a flip changer mould as an exclusive in 2006 for the Dawn of Future's Past set. I don't think it was from the actual box set, but wasn't the MW Thundercracker/Skywarp mould used for pre-Earth Waspinator?
I think it could work, if it was leaned into as the point of it all. Then...
Oh absolutely. And being the age I am, I didn't even get access to the internet until I was thirteen. So there's a very clean dividing line for me where the wonders of a world where you couldn't just look stuff up on a whim is firmly planted in my childhood, while adolescence for me lines up...
MW is a funny thing. By the time I joined the online fandom in the early 2000s everyone regarded it as a joke and a mistake. Of course you have instances of this three-four years earlier where some people clearly did care if they were asking about a tv show.
Then it seemed once we got what...
There was no precedent for two lines at once either. The whole thing was uncharted territory.
Yeah, Forward wasn't going to be the one who helmed any hypothetical MW show anyway. I get that.
But this attitude of "stupid 1997 fans asking about a MW show" comes off rather poorly, in my opinion...
That's what made them so fascinating to me. I grew up just outside of Toronto. MW was just this weird vehicle centric Transformers line I only ever saw once in Florida. And given that it was G2 and not BW that was my entry point into Transformers? That was big for ten year old me. It was just...
It wasn't that unreasonable at the time. It's 1997. You've got G1, G2, BW, and MW as far as lines went. G1, G2, and BW all had a show attached to them. These days we're used to collector aimed lines with little to no media but back then? Why wouldn't MW have a show? Literally every other line up...
I'd prefer an alternate head so there's no risk of compromising the MW toy/Thunderclash sculpt. Just do two heads.
It's also the principle of the matter. Almost every other collector line comes with alternate heads as a standard, but Transformers just doesn't do that. They've flirted with it...
Look. That was an option, but instead they did a "what if?" release where Optimus doesn't die and everyone spends the rest of the runtime calling Hot Rod a lamewad. That's just as good, right?
The wackiness of MW adds to the legend. Not just the out there decos, but the haphazard nature of everything. Changing the base decos but not the sticker sheets to match. Using G2 symbols on the box except for the figures who have the G1 symbols... except Skywarp who has the G2 symbol. Megatron...
I've seen a few of the usual suspects bemoaning this online and I'm... not seeing much of an issue?
First, like CoffeHorse said, this has been a known thing that's been in the works for a long while now. It's not like Hasbro is demanding people move on short notice.
Secondly... I moved to...
I've wanted a Phantom of the Opera action figure since I was a kid, and the limited options we have never were what I wanted. I'm finally good now that I've made 1/10 and 1/12 scale customs.
Well I say I'm good, I'd still love to see NECA do a Claude Rains 1943 Phantom figure but other than...
