I know that this has all been discussed a million times in a million places, but it still so frustrating. There were some interesting ideas in the Sequel Trilogy worth exploring. An escaped Stormtrooper as one of our heroes. The villain who's the son of the original trilogy protagonists...
I mean, I guess the movies still made (and continue to produce) buckets of money, so in that respect, I guess they were correct?* Just a shame that they couldn't have also been GOOD while they were being profitable.
*From a certain point of view
Yeah, I've always wondered if somehow the higher ups decided that the original trilogy succeeded BECAUSE of it being written/re-written as it went along and decided that they had to do the same thing? That's a very strange belief to arrive at, but I can't understand how there could be any other...
100% real talk here, if that was some sort of $5 or $10 thing, I would buy it because it's adorably awful, but I'm guessing this will actually be shockingly expensive, so his "at least he tried" look looses all of it's appeal.

Voyage Home is probably my second favorite after Wrath of Kahn. It's a different sort of Star Trek movie, to be sure, but not out of character. TOS wasn't afraid to be lighthearted. Trouble with Tribbles, anything with Harry Mudd in it, etc.
