The early script was nuts. If any insider is able to locate a surviving copy I am willing to pay an irresponsible amount of money for it.
I wish more studios would dump or even sell scripts once they're no longer needed. I used to collect that stuff. Universal used to be great about it but now...
It could have been wilder. Earlier drafts also had earth ponies building a great wall to keep everyone else out. That got dropped because Hasbro thought it sounded too timely, though its actual purpose was just to set up a 'Vault Dweller seeing the world for the first time' moment.
Yeah. G5 is a G-rated post apocalyptic future built on the ruins of a civilization no one remembers. Earth ponies, unicorns, and pegasuses stopped living together at some point due to some vague calamity, and they don't remember that they ever lived together in the first place. History has been...
G5 is dead. Flopped is a strong word though. It was doing okay. But then Hasbro managed to lose $1.5 BILLION in 2023 and they needed to rethink the meaning of okay.
I want to believe Hasbro is too proud to approve the eternally recycled "in the real world" script. I expect something more ambitious than that. Good? I don't know. But more ambitious.
I still want a combining trailer. I like beasts as their own thing, but the Prime and Megatron in this line do chunk exceptionally well and I'd like to see them lean into it. It's the best chunk we've gotten since the Unicron Trilogy.
And give us some beast torso bots, because the limb bots do...
Ugly Sonic is an absolute legend in the industry. I'm confident they won't let that happen here.
I'm doubtful for other reasons. Sonic worked for reasons that aren't inherently applicable to anything else. Unless they're going to the G1 route, which Hasbro has never shown any interest in doing...
Transformers films are all dead. GI JOE dead. MLP live action movie greenlit. What.
I don't believe it because it sounds like an obviously hopelessly doomed idea, but I thought the same thing when rumors started swirling about a live action Sonic movie.
Here's hoping. If they're done, they could just skip the show entirely. Not having a panel but still having some presence could mean "We have nothing to announce at the moment, but don't forget about us. WINK."
