This is why I sometimes go too easy on the rabble-rousers on Discord. I don't want to be too harsh on them because they don't happen to already know the lessons we once had to learn.

I would do it myself if there were some go-to tool I'd just need to learn, but that's just not how early 3D games work. If you're lucky, some nerd out there has made a tool that's specific to the game you want and sometimes works. If you're unlucky, go learn to use a hex editor or give up.

The N64 version must have been very different from PS1 because "confusing and clunky" is not what I remember.

I might have had the first game on PC. I thought I just had a demo because I never figured out how to make the levels end, but from its reputation I'm wondering if that's just how the game is. I'd love to play it again for science but I never got it working on anything past Windows 98.

Just on a visual level, I've always felt it was an idea that would be more interesting in just about any other form. Ultimately it's trading a blocky red arm for a blocky grey arm. I'm imagining DOTM Prime with a Megatron arm, as a what-if piece that totally ignores the existence of AOE.
