Bumblebee felt like it actually had a story first, rather than a bunch of spectacle shots with a threadbare plot to string them together. Sure, it's mostly a pretty standard "kid with a big friend" story, but at least it's coherent and competently told.

Energon's Autobots are mostly built around the combining gimmick, so if they want to keep that, that's a big commitment for the designers. And Beast Machines is just generally unpopular with the fandom at large.
Everything they can get away with and plenty of things they can't.
Who am I kidding, they can get away with all of it because they got rid of anyone who could actually do anything about it.
If not that, they'll find something else to bitch about. We can always go back to the classics like FIRRIB or which one is Cyclonus or TRUKK NOT MUNKI or something.
