It's like I've been saying. Much of our system is built on a foundation of sand, with only social pressure not to make waves keeping people from knocking it over. Then again, if we relied on doing things by the book the first time around, none of these advancements would ever have been made in...
"Can I offer you an egg in these trying times?"
One thing I will say for Britain. I always got the impression that Thatcher was near-universally reviled by her own people, unlike Reagan who is only really hated by the far-left, mildly disliked by anyone else left of the aisle, and lionized by...
A bit of good news, because we don't have a better thread for it: Cawthorn's out. And while I'm already seeing people saying "He shouldn't have blabbed about the coke parties"... it was an election. He wasn't booted off the ballot by the party leadership. So unless his entire constituency knew...
Update: I have acquired a dock for the oldest and most useless one.
This hasn't really improved my ability to do anything useful with it, but it has a decent-looking place to live now.
Funny thing is, back in the day I remember constantly seeing photos of iPhones sitting docked with the lock...
Ah yes, the semi-successful web series that Nickelodeon bought the rights to and proceeded to do nothing with besides preventing the creator from ever making more of it. Like, I'm not much of a conspiracy theorist but damn if it didn't feel like a "buying up the competition to kill it" move back...
So if someone were to show up with a Boring Company Not-a-Flamethrower, would they be kicked out? 'Cause it says right on the label that it's not a flamethrower!
They should be doing that anyway. Even more than the sheer amount of acquisitions they've made, I'm sick of them lumping them all into the Disney brand. I hate seeing their damn logo on all the Star Wars Lego boxes. I hate that they shut down Touchstone because it doesn't fit into their perfect...
That's a weird way to spell "awesome side effect".
It would, at least, force these companies to pretend to not own those things anymore, which would mean no more Space Jam "LOOK AT ALL THE ICONIC BRANDS OUR MEGACORP OWNS"-fests, I suppose.
Do they want to secede too? Can we have both Scotland and Northern Ireland secede, join up with Ireland, and become the United Celtic Republic or something?
Also Biden hasn't really done much of anything to post about. Not only is his administration not a trainwreck like Trump's was, he also hasn't said or done a lot to celebrate either. Which is bad—we've got a wannabe caretaker president in a time of multiple imminent crises—but it's harder to...
Actually, I had a thought, somewhat off topic. It's one thing for incumbents to consistently sweep the general election, because most districts have a consistent bias for one party or the other that isn't going to chance from one year to the next, and most voters literally don't even know who...
Yeah, unfortunately it's a toss-up whether the Democrats have a better chance against the Trump fanatics who are a turn-off to the general public, or against the moderates who are a turn-off to the Trump cult itself. But hey, we have some of each, so maybe we'll find out together.
So wait, how many states had primaries? How did 100% of Trump-endorsed candidates win in two states and then 0% of them win everywhere else? That feels... suspicious.
Every time Democrats hang out with union leaders for the sake of PR, I'm only reminded once again that if we had a government that really cared about workers' rights, we wouldn't even need unions because everything they exist to fight for would already be the law of the land.
