The vans already have very posable arms by G1 standards, all they need are elbows and wrists. It shouldn’t be too hard to get leg articulation out of it if they put in an actual pelvis instead of the 2D facade the original toys had.
Probably because the transformation is terrible. Seriously, Look at this crap.
At 9:50 and 12:00 Dude has to do a bunch of steps in a very specific order, including moving stuff only partway, flipping a panel then undoing the first step, moving another panel, then moving the first part all the...
I don't think it was unreasonable to expect them to come up with a new chunk of trailer that does something more substantial when they decided to engineer new hips and thighs to make Menasor arbitrarily taller.
There was that company making chibi citybots with optional kits to de-chibify them. That company making cubeformers also teased one to go with their trypticon.
That said, at 18 inches, this new one is about as small as I’d expect a Metroplex to get since it's designed for legends class toys...
This thing has my interest. It's jam-packed with features, looks great and if the listed price is to be believed, relatively affordable. It's a tad short for titans but eh, at some point, scale just doesn't matter.
Sticking a handle on the box doesn't solve the problem of it existing in the first place. It's also an absurdly unwieldy thing and will probably do a number on the elbow joints.
I find Bumblebee to be the most egregious. Megatron just needs a different cannon, Prime just needs mudflaps and maybe gap fillers and Barricade's kibble is more or less where it's supposed to be, just bigger due to restrictions of three dimensional space. I don't think there's any easy solution...
It’s a neat novelty but a full line of this would be pretty hard on the eyes. The G1 toys for the most part were hideous and adding articulation would probably only highlight the jacked up proportions.
Holomatter avatars just mean less screen time for the giant robots in the giant robot movie. They don’t even have the stakes of sending in the human partners to do stuff since they don’t really exist. Not a fan.
it’s just human sidekicks with extra technobabble.
Just using the toy car decoes works wonders. The cartoon cars were all bland and monotone as hell aside from breakdown and using the more visually interesting truck stripe helps Motormaster.
That said, this menasor having the dumb gun tower is a big turn off for me so I’ll pass unless it’s on...
Squeaky joints are a common thing in 3P land. Nearly everything I’ve bought has it. The companies probably don’t optimize tolerances and just make everything on the tight side to save time testing.
The game subseries always seemed like filler to me. Maybe the disarray caused by ROTB getting rescheduled caused them to push these out half-baked? I dunno, all I have to base this on is the clusterhug of the ROTB toyline
Not having CAD files means nothing since those weren’t designed to transform and accuracy isn’t the biggest issue.
You don’t need the CG models to see things like Bumblebee’s chest being so wide that he has to raise his arms to the side to point them forward, Barricade’s kibble, Megatron’s...
\Not gonna lie, after seeing the rest of the game toys, I don't have high hopes. Seriously, these can't be that much harder than live action movie designs.
They already showed off Ginrai alongside the trailer but both in uncolored prototype form. This looks like it's pretty much finished but no sign of Ginrai. And yeah, they're selling each component of God Ginrai separately to milk the fanbois.
