All that's fair enough. It is coming back more clearly now, and it makes sense that one angle for it is that the upgrading goes far enough that it brings the machines out of the Quintessons' control as they begin to advocate for themselves.
I'm content to exclude that from my own fanon; it's...
Where I am, I've only ever heard gunpla. Although I think I've also seen plamo used here and there. Mostly in stuff that i guess isn't Gundam.
In any case I'm not sure why the L in pla but not in moderu, but I have no frame of reference for this particular transliteration.
Well, from a Quintesson perspective that might be more the case. They'd be more in a position (and of an inclination) to dehuman(oid)ize like that. Separating "Transformers as just machines" from "Transformers as living characters we're meant to relate to" is a tricky thing to do. Even Toy Story...
I've genuinely lost track of what ambitions they had for their take on this, and I think they have too. But the core formula... it ain't really broke, don't fix it.
It has to be one of the easier franchises to turn a profit with. It even has a "G1" you can (and they have) milk while you work on...
I just hope that Hasbro have gotten over that confusion by this point and have figured out their plastic supply situation. The pandemic was whatever it was in terms of factory presence, but they've had a good long while now of being able to conduct proper quality control checks and review all of...
It'd be wild to go back in time and tell our younger selves that in the future, to fight yellowing, you have to put your Transformers IN sunlight.
It wouldn't be SO bad to have to rebuy a few pieces (indeed it's nice to have the option at all with package refreshes and such) if the prices...
Yup. The front of the robot mode feet fold into the dino's back. I mean I guess it'd look cool with the spines in front too. And I have no idea where the robot shoulder spikes come from -- does the dino neck split in half to run along each shoulder? Because flipping it back would also not let it...
The actual point was that it's already got toys lined up, because not every bit of Transformers media -- especially media that isn't known to be a full show yet -- gets toys. (And vice versa, to be sure.)
No, out of the Earthrise Op.
Put it on the list along with Magna Convoy and white cab Magnus (I know we got both as part of the Magnus releases. I want them from this mold) and Pepsi Convoy.
Good way if putting it. I think that still works (replace equivalent with branch, perhaps). Maltobots is a good term for the family-affiliated Terrans, especially since they tend to (iirc) take on the Malto surname.
Ah. I thought it was like an SS86 Blaster thing.
But yeah, if they're going to sell him at Leader class, I wouldn't mind a Springer like update of Astrotrain that gated off the gunbox and replaced they with new tooling to improve on the altmodes and give the robot mode a bit more mass. Rather...
Blitzwing's jet mode has a truck in the back for days.
But really, Takara continues to do their wonderful "basically dropper tool paint shade capture" magic on these, and both of them look really nice in the lighter show colors. I still lean a bit toward the toy shades that Hasbro tends to...
The Optimus had me baffled, but seeing a similar take on this car has me oddly warming to it. I've gone from "Star Wars Prototype Toy colors" to "oh it's like one of those 80s album covers, or United Colors of Benetton."
I have to admit, though, for all my exasperation with parts of it, I appreciate the balls of creating an entire storyworld out of a prop image. Weirdly, its officialization actually kind of chips away at the charm of that a little, but still.
That said, I don't know that the stream system is...
