I'm still kinda peeved Hasbro ditched Logos Prime from the Thirteen. As you point out, the Thirteen were never conceived of in one go... characters just got introduced on their own and got lumped into the group later.
So when Hasbro decided to canonize the group they didn't even keep Logos and...
I forgot about that! Yeah that's an even bigger level of dumb on top of everything else. Solus is so cool as an idea but everything they did with her outside of having her forge the Star Sabre and Matrix was dumb.
D'oh. Yes.
Another thing that bugged me about the Thirteen is that they wanted...
Rodimus Prime sounds like a Transformers porn name, granted, but there's a sort of narmy charm to it.
Thing is there have been other Primes from G1 who managed to avoid "just tack -us on the end" laziness.
Sentinel Prime, Prime Nova/Nova Prime, and Prima got name dropped for the first time in...
I don't dislike the concept of the Thirteen... I think it's a perfectly fine way to flesh out the mythology. I just... have issues with the final list we got.
Alpha Trion- I love the guy but there was nothing special about him in the G1 show aside from being so old he remembered the Quintesson...
I got a pretty good deal on a set I didn't want... that being the Miner Megatron and Sentaor Ratbat set. I donno. Orion Pax and Senator Shockwave was fun, but I preferred the Senator Ratbat from the old Generations Scourge and Miner Megatron was another reuse of a mould I've seen enough but... a...
It's weird. Megs kills Sentinel, Alpha Trion gets the Matrix.
At some point after that Megatron fatally wounds Orion Pax after pretending to befriend him.
Thing is Orion specifically brushes off stories of Megatron causing havoc as just rumours because he wants to be his friend.
So it...
The Legends manga is soooo good between the expressive character work and the gags and DEEEEEEP lore pulls that I'd be all in on an adaptation... assuming they could work out or fix some of less than ideal depictions of female characters. That's one area where you just go "Japan gonna Japan"...
My guess is that all the new tooling budgeted for this set went to Prime Cliffjumper's new head and making Squeezeplay happen. So they either had to go with retail Tarn or retail Bludgeon as the base for the final figure, and Tarn being popular along with Cyberverse Tarn being his own thing gave...
Maybe but two things...
1- is it ever shown in the Sunbow show that Hot Rod/Rodimus ever met Alpha Trion prior to that vision quest?
and
2- isn't this explanation just more attempts to reconcile a wrong model animation error in a cartoon full of animation issues and sketchy continuity...
Well let's talk about consistency and continuity in the visual storytelling of the Sunbow G1 cartoon 🫠
In Forever is a Long Time Coming we meet a young A3. He looks like this.
What a dapper young robot. Look at that mustache. Clark Gable would be jealous.
Ok. Here's Alpha Trion in War...
That stuff only got softened on the Wiki after James Roberts did a lot of work to save Drift's character in MtMtE/LL.
Before that Drift absolutely was the super awesome OC you (a general you) came up with in your weeb phase.
So SG Drift starting off as something else but evolving into doing...
