Bumblebee appears to have been an outlier, unfortunately. It wasn't high art, but it did feel like it aspired to be a bit more than a disposable summer movie.
It's a pure popcorn flick with none of Michael Bay's weirdness in it. I think it's kind of boring as the seventh attempt at a live action TF movie, but at least there's nothing in it that makes me go "Why is this is a Transformers movie."
No Bumblebee pissing on a dude
No camera shots ogling a...
Erial/Dion is not officially out yet. You can grab it from Pulse if you have an SDCC code, but there's no release date for when everyone will be able to buy it, yet. Speculation is next week.
Size hasn't been the determining factor for pricepoint for awhile now. Budget is. Higher pricepoints get more budget for things like parts count, complexity and paint, not just size. There's a reason they do the triple changers as leaders despite them being voyager sized.
Javelin in IDW2 was the one who got part of her head blown off (by Kaskade) and suffered some PTSD for it, hesitating in battle. She had a redemption moment towards the end when she had one of the weaponizers load up on her back and she basically went ballistic on some Decepticons.
I know people are going to want to make Mountain Dew jokes, but can we at least take a step back and appreciate that this is a crossover figure with a normal-ass sounding Transformers name?
Anyway, I'll be curious when we can make like Jack Nicholson and order the Code Red.
I'm guessing Javelin exists primarily because someone thought it was a viable retool out of BB Arcee, which is a mold that would probably never get reused again otherwise. I imagine Kaskade was just added in to give the set someflavor. Instead of an obscure character, it's a SNIPER DUEL.
Javelin was a very minor character in IDW1 who got a slightly bigger role in IDW2 where she got into a sniper fight with Kaskade, who is a IDW2 original and didn't do much else besides that.
Javelin had a minor plotline of getting PTSD after getting half of her head blown off by Kaskade.
I think I heard it's against SDCC policy (though I could easily be wrong) to stream panels. Or at least it wasn't a case of Hasbro just randomly deciding not to stream it.
