Indeed, it's not supposed to happen for many years yet.

    Star Trek: Strange New Worlds

It's not "wrong" that Chapel is being given depth (speaking only for myself). But since I have trouble reconciling this specific depth with the character we saw in TOS, I just decide I can't dwell on that. If I have to think of this Chapel as a different person entirely, I'm okay with that, and...

I hope that at least includes all autographs (as the FunPub BotCons did)....

I wouldn't say that they "represent" those characters, but for example, the kangaroo uses SG Soundwave's colors (and it's joey uses SG Ravage's). (image from BotCon's FB page)

I think that's likely exactly what's going on. They're being intentional about using color schemes that call back to SG characters, but that's as far as they seem to dare referencing old stuff without stepping on anyone's actual intellectual property rights.

I'm torn. As you say, TOS Chapel had rather little to her, so I'm pleased to be given more to work with. On the other hand, it's been difficult for me to reconcile this Chapel with that one. I kind of have to treat her as a different person entirely.

    Star Trek: Strange New Worlds

One issue I have with this discussion is that some of it is apples and oranges. I prefer 80s/90s Trek (and SNW) over Discovery/Picard (both of which I enjoy) because I greatly prefer the episodic storytelling in those things over the season-long arcs of Disco/Picard. That's not a "bad writing"...

    Star Trek: Strange New Worlds

The thing is, "stands the test of time" really isn't something I think one can say until something has... or hasn't... done so. I have no objection to people liking things I dislike (or perhaps in this case, vice-versa), but I strongly object to this idea that there are objective things that...

    Star Trek: Strange New Worlds

Not to criticize love for "Far Beyond the Stars" (one of the best DS9 episodes, yes) but it was both preachy and non-subtle. Neither prevented it from being excellent, but I simply don't buy an argument that says it wasn't preachy or was being subtle about what it was saying.

    Star Trek: Strange New Worlds

When TOS had aliens that literally used Nazi swastikas, I'm not sure you can say that they were more "subtle" than modern writers.

He knows. That's the "not-Grapple appearance" he was talking about, I assume also to point out that an Orange Hauler is just Grapple, who we've already gotten.

Back when the Wasp Raider was announced (ages ago, now), we were promised that some exclusives would be transforming robots. Ultimately, it depends on what partners are willing to work with them. We'll see.

Thanks for such a thorough look at the Action Masters (through the lens of this particular figure). I often try to tell folks not only that Action Masters are more than just "Transformers than don't transform," but that other non-transforming Transformers don't rise to the level of being Action...

    Willow - streaming on Disney+

Perhaps this is why Warwick Davis stepped down from hosting Tenable last year? (for the uninitiated, Tenable is a British game show)

Robots in Disguise (2001) Appreciation Thread

Understood, but that comic didn't try to wedge the Matrix Blade into the mix. I mean, sure, we could always posit that Omega Prime could have conjured up the Matrix Blade at an earlier time, then put it back into subspace for later. But once we've done that, we no longer have to assume that...

Robots in Disguise (2001) Appreciation Thread

Since the story was pretty much over by the time Omega Prime acquired the Matrix Blade, I'm not sure how much we can assume. This may have had to have been a different "RiD" continuity from the cartoon.

Disney+s Live Action Rescue Rangers Is Not What You’re Expecting

Scheduling might always be a potential concern, but now that the vast majority of voice work is done remotely, and assembled later, it's much less of a concern than it used to be. ESPECIALLY for cameos.

    Transformers Legacy toyline

I agree in broad strokes with your point (that future versions of a known design should respect the original design), but I'm not convinced that Legends Override fails to do so. The starship Enterprise, as seen in the Kelvin movies and in the post-Discovery versions of the TV shows, is clearly...
