Agreed. The combination of figure and packaging is absolutely fantastic for these, so it would be the sort of thing I would actually keep MIB as opposed to my usual take-it-out-and-play-with-it style of collecting. If I had grown up reading the Marvel Comics, I would maybe bite on these. As...
I'm holding out hope that maybe Swoop comes with all the extra swords, too, but in silver to match the one that came with Snarl. If so, I could see Hasbro waiting a bit to show him so as not to loose people that were buying Grimlock here to get a set.
As a bit of an aside, we have Grimlock...
That's what I'm hoping for. I'd definitely like to have the swords, but I can't really justify re-buying Grimlock just for them (as beautiful as this version is).
Your best bet is probably to try to buy a G1 Groove (or even a KO G1 Groove) and repaint it. Kryon Fusion for plastic is a great spray paint for Transformers as it bonds nicely to the plastic.
I'm glad to see that molds exist for all the Dinobot swords, but as much as I love the packaging and overall execution of Marvel Grimlock, I doubt I'll splurge on it. Hoping those swords get released some other way that makes more sense for me.
Just as a quick "after" update, I did get the kit and install it on my spare Sludge.
Overall, very impressed with it. There was a lot of effort put in to make Paddles' robot and dinosaur modes look significantly different from Sludge. Installation was pretty easy. Some parts that were...
The two big ones I'd want are:
Mt. St. Hilary/Ark/Autobot Base. I'm picturing a big mountain with the Ark sticking out of it from the cartoon that opens up, Greyskull style, to reveal the interior of the Autobot base. There'd be a Teletraan 1 room, a medical bay, Dinobot cave, etc. Probably...
Fort Wayne is a heck of a lot closer to me than New Jersey. I'll have to see how things are working out this year, but I've always wanted to go to a Botcon.
They are EXTREMELY rare. Last time they were up on Ebay in 2009, they were listed at $15,000 (for the whole set.) Not sure if they actually sold at that price, but that gives you a rough idea of the pricepoint for these.
That's what I was thinking, too. Generations Chromia is still by far the better Chromia, but this looks different enough to just be a new female Autobot.
