#65: The Transformers: Headmasters #3 - "Love and Steel!"
Frank Springer, Ian Akin, Brian Garvey
While the "capture them in bubbles" idea is a bit silly, and the text is a bit misleading/overly dramatic (one might think the Autobots are actually trying to kill the poor trapped Nebulans), I...
#70: The Transformers #79 - "The Last Autobot?"
Andrew Wildman
The next Wildman cover on the list is another one where he doesn't really get to draw much robot, just an extreme close-up of Galvatron's face (so close it's hard to even identify it as him) as a somewhat stylized Spike floating...
#75: The Transformers: Headmasters #2 - "Broken Glass!"
Frank Springer, Ian Akin, Brian Garvey
This one's not bad... it avoids the usual pitfalls of being miscolored, and the Nebulons running away give Scorponok a nice imposing sense of scale. And I do like the unique corner box with Galen and...
Apologies, been swamped recently.
#80: The Transformers #38 - "Trial by Fire!"
Frank Springer, Dave Hunt
After being introduced in the parallel-running Headmasters miniseries, Fort Max, Scorponok and friends leave Nebulos, making their first appearance on Earth (and in the main book) with...
I'm actually kinda interested in that Skywarp... it definitely is different from his usual look, but it's a nice color scheme on its own. Is that mold good and worth getting?
I'll probably be getting Springer as I didn't get the Siege one, and this one looks to be an improvement. Not wild about...
#85: The Transformers #59 - "Skin Deep"
José Delbo, Danny Bulanadi
This one rounds out the (imaginary) trio of Delbo-drawn potentially misleading Megatron covers. Still a bit wonky, but I think Delbo drew a decently cool Grimlock here. I also like the way Megatron is storming in like Hey...
#90: Transformers: Generation 2 #12 - "A Rage in Heaven!"
Derek Yaniger
As you could probably guess from my avatar, I'm a big fan of Derek Yaniger's style, and it's probably one of the most memorable aspects of Generation 2 in general. It was perfect for the XTREEEME vibe that mid 90s comics...
#95: The Transformers #56 - "Back from the Dead"
Dan Reed
Dan Reed was a frequent artist on the UK books, and was the first one from that title to work on the US book, getting to do the cover of Furman's first US issue (he also did interiors for issue #64). Reed's UK work is somewhat infamous...
#100: The Transformers #58 - "All the Familiar Faces!"
Jose Delbo
I went back and forth between this one and the next one for the dubious honor of the worst cover, but in the end, had to go with the one that's little more than a giant, all-red Optimus Prime head, zoomed in so far his whole...
40 years ago today, May 8, 1984, the first piece of Transformers media - Marvel Comics' The Transformers #1 - was released. Although the cartoon would prove the more impactful of the two in the public consciousness, the comic was integral to the formation of the franchise as we know it today (we...
Looks like they also released the FCBD issue, at regular price, as the "Energon Universe Special 2024" this week for those who couldn't make it to FCBD.
Transformers #8 is out today as well!
And a Scorponok too!
That's why I always had zero interest in Titan-sized Fort Max or Scorponok... never had the G1 toys, and the first (and pretty much only) form of the characters that comes to mind is the Marvel G1 versions. And both were pretty major characters there too.
Look pretty cool, though I really wish the fusion cannon rotated around so the thinner end pointed forward.
I mean, not that I'm gonna get this anyways. It's cool but no way would I get $900 of enjoyment out of it. But it does look cool.
I get what you're saying but I'm not sure Shrek is a good example. While it has enough slapstick and such to work superficially as a kids movie, it's also full of metajokes/references that only an adult would get, as well as tons of double entendres. We might get some references/jokes to other...
Completely agree, it's a really nice and thick-looking design. Only weird part is those little tabs on the front bumper pointing down, makes it look like it wouldn't be able to roll, but maybe it clears the ground. But that grey. Oy vey, that "we pre-yellowed your toy for you!" grey...
As for...
Looks pretty good, especially the improvements to Landsaur. I think I preferred some of the color choices on the original though. A more silver-y robot face instead of green (even though I guess the latter is show-accurate?). And the new one's wings look like ham slices.
