I would assume there's a difference between printed media and physical toys. As you say, Hasbro owned the names and fiction, so it makes sense they could authorize someone to make a comic (fiction) using that. That's entirely different from making new toys based specifically on Bandai designs.

The original Slipstream being a repaint for budgetary reasons shouldn't resign her to being a repaint forever. But if that's what she has to be, I'd much rather have had a new head on a repainted ER Seeker. I'll not be replacing my Takara version.

I like the movie and my friends and I loved the cartoon. I worked in the AV room (the nerds that delivered the TV or overhead projector) first period for a couple years in high school and we watched it nearly every morning.
