Something Disney related:
Their semi-lost, box office bomb from 1983, "Something Wicked This Way Comes" (based on the Ray Bradbury novel) is now available for streaming. This is probably the easiest way to see the film in decades.

That's wild. Is that the only theatrical film besides Song of the South that never got any sort of home media release? I've never even heard of it.

According to the interwebs, it supposedly DID get a handful of releases over the decades. But given its lack of success and continued obscurity, any media releases were probably smaller runs. The only DVD release was from Anchor Bay in 1999 (before the format was mainstream), who generally does those sort of “cult“ films. The only BluRay was in 2021 in the final months of the Disney Movie Club as an exclusive.
Before the internet, I had never heard of the film either. That whole late 70s-late 80s decade of Disney remains largely obscure and forgotten aside from the animated features and Tron.

Saw Zootopia 2. Muhahaha!

I can't believe I didn't notice that thing in the first movie that they addressed this new movie. Gosh dang.

Also, i thought the snake was a counter to Mister Snake from Bad Guys (1 and) 2, which was awesome btw.

There's an extra scene at the very end. My friend had to explain the significance cuz it flew over my head again, haha

I was thinking about the time Aladdin tricked Jafar into wishing to be a genie and I feel like the implications of that don't get enough discussion. People talk about all these one-off wishes, but the genie can give you an ongoing superpower. My first wish is that I always know the right decision to make. I'll let you know #2 and 3 after that.

Jafar didn't know about the laws of magic that genies abide by, though. The magic he was familiar with was common sorcery and alchemy, artificial forms of magic and spell-casting in the Aladdin universe. Genie magic may be of the"phenomenal cosmic power" variety natural to the world, but it comes with several limits and caveats in its use, which are implied to be known only to genies.

And when he tried to make use and abuse of this power he had as a genie in the sequel, it was those laws of magic that were again his ultimate downfall (or rather, "penultimate downfall" since he later came back again as a ghost and had to be permanently killed in the Underworld when Aladdin teamed up with Hercules).

Genie: Define "right."

Well, I only really looked at the headline and it did Neca.

I actually haven't seen all of original Ducktales so I don't know what the fishing pole and butterfly net is referencing. What episode is that? Is that book the junior woodchuck guide book?

It'd be sooo easy to switch Louie and Dewey there.

If you haven't tried it yet, I HIGHLY recommend checking out Disney's new show, Dragon Striker! It's about a magic school for soccer, with some fantastic French animation!

First episode's up officially on youtube!

This is so different from what Disney usually does that I really hope it gets the love it deserves. They seem to be setting quite a bit of lore and mysteries and drama that I really hope they're able to pay off down the road.

There's no Pixar thread and the Toy Story thread is related to Lightyear. Posting here or better there?

Anyway, saw Toy Story 5. Two extra scenes at the end.

I cried several times. It's back to being the best of Pixar.

This is more character stuff than adventure. My friend said it was more for adults than kids and, yknow, I feel that that's correct ish.

Gosh, I hope you guys watched this. I want to see thoughts about it.

We really didn't need Woody around. Honestly, I liked Buzz better anyway.

You guys watch it! Highly recommended for parents with screen kids too.

I'm more concerned about the fact that they're adapting a series that's still unfinished and shows no signs that it's ever going to be. So we'll probably end up with a Game of Thrones scenario where they're stuck coming up with their own way to wrap it up and it'll suck.

If it's like most anime with unfinished source material it'll just tie off the last completed story arc and maybe have a montage of all the characters and then be done with little care about the main plot being incomplete.

-ZacWilliam, can count how many anime's I've seen do that in the last 30 years

What do you mean? It sounds like you believe they are adapting the games to a series, but from what I'm hearing, this is an original story written just for it. It might not even follow Sora.
