Skywarp and gray Bombshell and insecticons with opaque yellow instead of clear probably. Not sure what else they could do since the insecticons are already pretty accurate.

That's actually very easy. The plastic that changes color when dipped in hot or cold water. It's a gimmick we've seen in modern times with the PusleCon Zartan, and it's not that uncommon in Hot Wheels Cars, both that sort of paint and the UV reactive sort. I'm not sure it's ever been used in a Transformer before, aside from rubsigns?
I forgot all about those! So it has been done, they could do it again!
I fully expect they'll make Bombshell gray if only to differentiate it from the regular release.

Kickback's wings and Shrapnel's mandibles are now painted silver. They lost the sticker-esque blue and red details. The rectangle on Bombshell's forehead isn't painted gold any more. They also either modified the mold or painted the biceps to match the shoulders and forearms on Shrapnel and Bombshell.
Might buy into the set for Skywarp to complete the trio but it kinda hurts given I just tracked down a set of Insecticons earlier this year. Eh, I'll probably sell one of the sets depending on the mood. I don't dislike the cartoon colors in general, but I prefer purple Bombshell.

I also tracked down a set of insecticons, but like the refraktors I also tracked down, at least they're troop builders, so I can still get ER mold Thundercracker and Skywarp to go with my other ER seekers. (I have zero desire to start that collection over, especially at the new scale which I don't care for.)
Sorry, I thought it was implied I was talking about both the insecticons and reflectors.
I'm content to skip the Skywarp set as I'm looking to get the Adventure versions of Shrapnel and gray Bombshell to be my clone drone guys. (I am tempted by the idea of getting a Kickback with opaque plastic wings, if that's what they are.) Even the Thundercracker set I'm now eyeing more for the Refraktor bits. The new Seeker mold reveal really ate up the lunch on these.
I dunno if I want to go the clones excuse for my shelf. Sure it works when there are a lot of them but when there’s only one copy it’s just a bit weird lol. More importantly, I don’t want to go into the troop builder rabbithole
Budget cutbacks, one clone policy. Times are lean on Cybertron.
