It is difficult to see a bright spot when you're trapped in super small town America, especially here in the fly over states.
Moving to a *very* small town in Kansas, even to follow a dream job, comes with understanding that you will have to wade through some of the stickiest GOP ride or die people on a daily basis. On patrol I see Trump flags all over. One lady had "Lets go Brandon" painted on her fence.
Since the indictment, people here are nervous. There's talk of what comes next and it's suddenly hard to get ahold of ammunition and gear.

Trump may yet be on the outs, but he retains an iron grip on the small towns that are preyed upon by Fox News. There really is more of them than you would think and they are in positions of authority. What will happen if/when they decide to use that position in defense of the Tangerine Anus?

Why do people go to such extraordinary efforts to pretend Trump is smart? I've actually seen people claim that he has proven his skill at "manipulating the bankruptcy system"!

All he does is refuse to pay his bills and then let his lawyers handle the paperwork. Refusing to pay your bills isn't some omega-level business skill: it's literally what every drunken deadbeat in America does until the repo men show up for the car. The only difference is that the poor deadbeats don't have fancy lawyers.

Jim Jordon really should've kept his nose out of what's going on in New York. Cause uh....Alvin Bragg isn't hugging around.

Just....holy crap bro. Don't hug with Bragg.

Ironbite-at all.

Good, it's about ******* time. The only way to stop this from continuing is to drag all these little tyrants into court, the only way to stop it from happening again is to set the precedent for punishing it and voting their fascist asses out of office

Does he really need to participate? We know the GOP's giving him the nomination, barring his death (and even that might not change their minds).

That was kind of the point of releasing the schedule: they literally gave it to him... the last time. Not this time though, this time they actually want a choice, to prove to the voters that they're "moving away" from trump.

Like everything these fascists do, it's just a show.

Trump got caught too much, they need a new dancing monkey to distract people while they finish gerrymandering the country into submission.

He seems to have forgotten the time he skipped a debate in Iowa out of a bizarre protest and ended up losing the state to Ted Cruz. He needs the debates more than he likes to admit.

He also needs to come to terms with the reality that people do not want to vote for someone whom is racing around the country under threat of arrest to make his court dates. He still has exactly the same amount of power over the GOP he's always had... which is to say none. The acquiesced because they needed him, and now they don't. The GOP is openly proving that despite all the cheating and rampant anti-democractic action: they are perfectly capable of losing the next election cycle without donald trump.

Oh, have the trials started already? I had assumed not from the lack of headlines about him being charged with perjury.

Only a civil suit. Which was preceded by the judge making the jury anonymous because everyone knows what would happen if the cult got a hold of their names, and started with the judge warning against inciting anything on social media. Oh, and Trump himself hasn't actually shown up in person for it. Legally, in a civil suit, he's not required to appear (and, let's face it, keeping him away is probably the best course for his own lawyers, he'd incriminate himself the first time he opened his face hole), but it sets a bad image to show that he doesn't care enough about it. His lawyer tried to file some absurd notion that Trump was staying away to not disrupt the city too much, or because the city wouldn't provide enough security, and that the jury should be told not to hold it against him, but the judge dismissed all of that on the grounds that the real reason he's not showing is that he had rallies planned on other states at the same time.

"She said it was very sexy to be raped."

Literally what Trump said about E. Jean Carroll during his deposition. It's a complete farce that most people don't take this trial seriously and don't think he should be convicted. If the justice system actually were actually blind to status and power as it's supposed to be, he would be so completely fucked.

Trump agrees to a presidential town hall on CNN next week in New Hampshire, hosted by Kaitlan Collins taking Q's from Republicans and undeclared voters who plan to participate in the primary voting.

Would really like to know what the compelling pitch was. I don't think Trump should be blocked off from these kind of events as he is a candidate and likely GOP nominee. But if it's just Collins being a passive host and letting Trump ramble on in response to the participants with no corrections, that would probably be a bad idea. Guess we'll see.

The town hall will stream live for pay TV subscribers via CNN.com and CNN OTT and mobile apps under “TV Channels,” or CNNgo where available. The town hall will also be available On Demand beginning Thursday, May 11 to pay TV subscribers via CNN.com, CNN apps, and Cable Operator Platforms.

I assume there will be ways to watch this if you want, but it makes it sound like it will be subscribers only. These kind of events should be provided to all Americans for free, even if they are potential misguided trainwrecks.
