I just assumed that's how kids media on youtube was these days. Never actually occurred to me that it might be uniquely abnormal.
This. Short form kids media is all about chunks of stuff and order isn't strictly necessary. You give them the latest episode and then you back load it with a few other episodes just to keep them engaged.

Fitting. I also stole it.

The MOTU series on YouTube has:
1. Individual episodes, which is always how the episodes premiere.
2. Shorter videos that are just clips from those episodes.
3. Longer videos that are multiple full episodes with something in common (like, "put the Ram-Man episodes together").
4. Videos that are, like, quizzes and stuff.

Definitely not the "episode premieres are the new episode followed by a lot of older stuff that is a mix of full episodes and clips and is in either random order or even specifically in reverse order" nonsense that Cyberworld has.

Official uploads of Rescue Bots and Rescue Bots Academy have a bunch of compilation videos consisting of random episodes strung together, too.

I suspect it's an attempt to get around the algorithm. Once a piece is over, YouTube automatically moves on to something deemed similar. So, by padding out each new episode with extra material, someone stays on the Transformers content longer. They might think that making it look like the algorithm is just moving on to random clip stuff is more likely to keep people from hitting stop and moving on to something else.

It really doesn't matter. Maybe to you, maybe to me, but that's not who this show is geared towards.

The entire idea is to get kids hooked on the first episode and then give them more to binge. And because the episodes are short, it's boom boom boom.

Now you might say "MotU does the same thing but it makes sense" and sure it makes sense to us. But to kids? There's precious little difference in how that MotU show and Cyberworld operate. It's all the same content after content to keep the kids engaged and work the algorithm.

This is a highly serialized show though.
Which tells me there's some level of disconnect between what the people making it want to do vs what the suits want.

My guess is a lot of the more meme-y jokes are meant to cover for that. And let it be enjoyed by kids binging it even if it's narratively out of order.

Thing is, YouTube tracks watch time, so if they're uploading 20 minute videos with the new episode on the start and a bunch of other stuff after it, then all the Transformers fans just watch the first 5 minutes and then leave, they're going to end up with YouTube seeing "oh, everyone watched the first 5 minutes and then quit. This may not be a good video to recommend."

I don't think Transformers fans are who they're targeting with Cyberworld. All the fans may check out after the first five minutes, but the kids likely don't.

I'm at TFCon Orlando this weekend, so I may not get to write out what all is attached at the end of this one until after this weekend.
