I mean, he IS in florida, so they probably just read the runes of scattered gator teeth.

I made sourcream cookies. Never done this recipe before, and looking forward to trying them.
Whole foods has a delicious Maple Leaf cookie that I haven't had in years. I need to see if anyone else carries that...

You deserve a good rest, Fnu.
Additionally, he has suddenly taken an interest in learning Japanese. I dug out my college textbooks (Yookoso), and we started that, but then I remembered I also had some immersive Japanese cassettes, and now he is super-excited to listen to those on his cassette player whenever he can. I'm actually quite impressed with his eagerness to learn, so now I'm wondering what kinds of materials I can find to teach an 8 year old Japanese
Awesome! It's tough, but fun. I was lucky enough to learn some as a kid and kept up casual conversation levels, though my writing/reading levels w/ kanji are dismal).
This may sound silly, but: let him watch kid-friendly anime in Japanese. When I was young, I picked up a lot of words and culture info even w/out subtitles. These days I use subtitles and a wider range of shows, but I'm still learning. This won't be as effective as classes, of course, but it helps.

I have always hated coffee. It tastes like death and uses an addictive stimulant. If you came up with it today, they wouldn't let you sell it.
Yeah, also not a coffee fan. Even stuff like mocha ice cream or things with very little coffee flavor, the aftertaste bugs me. Almost anytime TMM has some, I try a tiny bit just to see if my taste buds have changed, and usually recoil. I don't know what about the flavor bugs me, I like barley tea which tastes kinda similar *shrug*

It doesn't sound silly at all; we've already been watching the Ultraman Kids anime in Japanese with subtitles, and I even got to use that as an example to explain -san, -kun, and -chan suffixes. I have quite a bit of stuff we could watch, and I agree, that kind of immersion helps teach pronunciation and culture. If anyone has any suggestions, I'd be interested. I've got a lot of mecha, space, and crime anime and a few other odds and ends, like a lot of the Ghibli films, but only some of that is what I would consider kid-friendly.

Watching the latest ep of Black Clover season 2, it left me with a big grin upon my face when Asta showed up and the appearance of those who been off in the heart kingdom, its one of those moments where characters show up and trash the other party without mercy and it just leaves a big grin upon your face

I've been watching Chibi Maruko-Chan, the later eps that are on Crunchyroll. I remember reading this series in the 90s. The show itself is set and stays in the 70s. It's kinda like Beverly Cleary's Ramona book series. Slice of life, little sister is a brat. It's light fun, low stakes, and reflects the views of the time (eg Mom stays at home, dad works). The adults drink beer, there's brief references to the war and one of the students whose house burned down in a fire, but nothing too bad. You might have to explain things to your kid, like the old technology. Still, it is a fun little window to the past.

The weekend is over but it kinda doesn't matter because I'm not expecting my phone to ring at the crack of dawn. Hug it.

It's going to be a long time before I'm over this. It's such a gigantic change in my life. It's unreal.

After selling a bunch of my old toys to make space, I was sure I held back some of my more favorite Pokemon. But I couldn't find any of them so I started to think maybe I got overzealous and sold more than I meant to.

This morning, corner of my eye, I noticed noticed a black Loot Crate box in the shadows of the corner of my room. It was actually two boxes, an old loot crate box and shoebox.

I not only found my old pokemon, I also found a treasure trove of old D&D minis I thought I'd gotten rid of!

😄😄😄😄😄😄

Making me happy today, is finding the last copy of my Looney Tunes Golden collection, been searching my DVD collection for the DVDs, my trouble is that I got a large collection that scattered across two rooms in various places, I just finally found the volume I was looking for, which is volume 2, I guess I do need a purge as much of my collection is made up of movies, I also found two other DVDs I wasn't looking for, one is Nightmare Before Christmas, I thought we given away to my sister so I bought another copy last year, the other is a old animated short called Pumpkin Moon, a lot like the Snowman, its story is mostly visual with no actual words until close to the end where a song called Pumpkin Moon plays, so I'll watch that in the next couple of days, while Nightmare I'll watch in the run up to Christmas, in the meantime I'll watch the Looney Tunes as you can't go wrong with those shorts
