A new coffee shop, Dame Fine Coffee, had a soft opening in our town yesterday, and they were giving free small drinks to anyone who came (they were very busy). Haywire3 was all excited, and wouldn't stop talking about the "Dam Fine Coffee" (Yes, he's 8 years old. Yes, we let him drink coffee, sometimes.) We get up to the window and get our drinks, and he takes a big, satisfied swig of his Chocolate Strawberry Latte, and says, "That is Dam Fine Coffee!"
This morning, he proclaimed to his mother on the way to school that his breakfast was "okay, but it would be better with some Dam Fine Coffee." We've either created a monster, or a comedian.
Additionally, he has suddenly taken an interest in learning Japanese. I dug out my college textbooks (Yookoso), and we started that, but then I remembered I also had some immersive Japanese cassettes, and now he is super-excited to listen to those on his cassette player whenever he can. I'm actually quite impressed with his eagerness to learn, so now I'm wondering what kinds of materials I can find to teach an 8 year old Japanese.
