Yeah the other Horsemen that joined with Gambit/Death was Sunfire/Famine (gaining his AoA look in the 616 as it), and Polaris/Pestilence. War was a newer mutant named Gazer. I'm kinda disappointed they didn't really adapt Gambit's Death look outside just recoloring him. But glad we skipped out on Polaris's turn. That armor was just too busy.

Not this storyline, but another X-men turned Horseman was Wolverine having a turn at War, which iirc was how he got his adamantium back in the comics.

Didn't he get his adamantium back in an outer space adventure and they took the adamantium from Sabertooth and gave it to Wolverine? I read it somewhere (but didn't read the actual issues so I could be wrong.

Yeah it was the lead up to the Twelve storyline.

Looking back at the 90's it always felt like the events always chained together through the minor storylines since the early to mid 90's. Like before the Jim Lee era things felt more spread apart, but once you got to say X-cutioners Song every issue between was slowly building to the next event. Heck we got the first signs of Bastion a little before Onslaught started going if I remember right. Just looking it up Bastion's First Full Appearance was two issues before the Onslaught prologue issues kicked off in Uncanny X-men. UXM # 333 and Onslaught well started with Juggernaut coming to Jean the next issue, with the next issue being part of the event branding.

Sadly it never really felt like its gone away. It's rare to have an issue that feels disconnected from the larger storylines anymore. I honestly kind of miss Baseball or issues where they were just playing around for most of the issue.

With as many volumes and #1 resets Marvel's done in recent decades it's less confusing
Yeah, what Steevy said. Was typing it out as it notified me of his reply :D

So, the season finale has come and gone, and it wasn't bloodless.

X-force and X-factor team up to assault X-corp where gambit is being held, so Cable can kill Apocalypse by killing Gambit. The whole building is basically destroyed in the fight and Gambit is killed by a headshot from Cable. This however, frees Apocalypse rather than killing him. Meanwhile, Rogue, Nightcrawler, and Beast have traveled to the sunken Ship so they could use it to enter the Celestial temple to destroy Apocalypse. Rogue agrees with the Celestial to sacrifice her life for Gambit's life, and gets celestial super charged. She flies off leaving Beast and Nightcrawler there. Rogue shows up just in time to rip Apocalypse out of Gambit and put him into one of those crystal-like things Apocalypse gave to the eternal. She hands that to Cable for him to destroy. Gambit is alive again, and rogue goes to kiss him one last time, thinking that her time is now at an end, but then she sees Beast by himself holding Kurt's Bible. We get a flashback showing that Kurt paid for Rogue's sacrifice in order to make more life. He seems to convince the celestial that there is another way than survival of the fittest.

The after credits scene shows Mystique breaking into the X-factor lady's office, looking at her own file while the TV says that Creed won the presidency. Then the lady catches her in her office and is shot dead by Mystique.

We had some great fight scenes, lots of setup for future seasons, and I loved every moment with Kurt, Beast, and Morph. I wasn't too excited over the after credits scene this time around, but maybe we will see where it goes. I was disappointed that we didn't get to get any Onslaught build up, just some winks and nods to the fans that know.

Next season is already done, and we will get it in 2027 with the follow season scheduled for 2028. So we have a lot more of this show coming, and I can't wait for it!

Yeah, about that.

Word is circulating the reason this season only had nine episodes rather than ten is that one episode was intended to have Onslaught, but as a one-and-done threat. They opted to cut the episode and save Onslaught for a full storyline.

If true, this was easily the right call.

While that might have been the right call, I feel not having 10 episodes was a mistake as this episode would have been better as a two parter. It really feels like they run up against the wall and just end things.

imo what should have happened is either Cable headshotting Gambit or Apoc resurrecting should have been a cliffhanger. As literally everything afterwards is way too rushed. Xavier vs the X-men. Super Rouge vs Gampocalypse, Nightcrawler's sacrafice and how we get NO reactions to it, just a very disney-esque "they all lived happily ever after" montage. till the end credits scene. Which in this version I would have had Mystique be Val at least during this whole two parter (as it is we don't know how long she was pretending to be her) and while we could still save the reveal towards the end; I would have done something along the lines of her knowing Apocalypse would revive if Remy got killed. That makes the team up and what happened makes sense. There's a lot here that needed just SO MUCH more room to breathe then it got.

I guess next season we might see a sorta redux of the days of future past storyline, just becuase in the comics Mystique killed Greydon Creed during his presidential campaign before he could get elected. So I could see her once more trying to kill the president but succeeding this time. I doubt we'll see a full redo, just another presidential assassination plot.
I also wonder if they're gonna use Creed as a Trump analog...

I’m doubtful about another run at “Days of Future Past”, we already touched on that in the original run. Mystique’s assassination of Creed was part of Operation Zero Toleranc….which we already touched on. I’m thinking we could get a Avengers vs X-Men take, possibly leading to Onslaught.

I’m cautiously optimistic. Season 3 will be our first without significant involvement of Beau DeMayo. Hopefully, the rest of the staff keep up the quality we’ve seen.

This show continues to be amazing.

it was moving along as a really good episode, enjoying the hell out of it. Then that Nightcrawler reveal. Did not see it coming at all, but it was perfect. Perfectly fit Nightcrawler, and wonderfully executed. Not going to lie, chocked up a little bit.

Definitely will be an analog of him, especially since he has been copying the Friends of Humanity since 2015.

Colossus is back this episode, as an Acolyte. I don't like that they killed Majik to get him there, but they can't really use his comic reasoning.
What was his reasoning there?

Finally saw the last episode Sunday night. Great season! Can't wait for more.

The final moments were a bit of a downer, though. It felt like "Man, we just got him (back)!", too.

The final moments were a bit of a downer, though. It felt like "Man, we just got him (back)!", too.

It was basically he felt that humanity had killed off his entire family: Death of his parents, executed by Russian Gov't; his mutant Brother Mikhail going insane and seeming to die (he really just hugged off with the Morlocks for a bit), Illyana being kidnapped by Russian gov't experimented on and then dying of the legacy virus, and at some point during all this suffering brain damage that left him in his metal state to survive. All this lead to him being very disenchanted with Xavier and his dream.

So while died there, it was very different circumstances, while here is was more or less her first real appearance, but Maybe we'll get her back as in the comics she literally went to hell and back becoming the ruler of hell, or one of them. While I don't feel like that should/have to bring everyone back, Illyana has an interesting story that could be adapted.
