UK politics thread – meet the new boss, same as the old boss

I mean we're already talking about taking grown adults with full-time jobs and forcing them to spend seven hours a day for the next decade and change in a school for children. But no, it was a perfectly reasonable serious proposition and definitely not a joke that I was simply yes-and-ing.

Count Binface has released his Clacton manifesto.

If you guys don't vote for him, can we have him? This all sounds completely reasonable.

I'd vote for him just over #14. There are some chuds around here who like to take their straight-piped (and technically already illegal due to emissions laws) beaters out on the road at like three in the morning, or worse, park at the intersection jacking off their engines for multiple lights, just to be a nuisance. If I were sheriff I would take great joy in hunting them down and having their cars crushed while they're forced to watch.

He could fulfill #1 just by winning. Clacton would instantly be legendary.

I'd vote for him just because he has a dedicated page for people who would like to subscribe to his newsletter, rather than a full page popup. And the Ceefax thing. He is the first politician who understands me.

I don't know of a single other thing to envy about UK politics. It seems like a big mess. But they've got a space alien offering to fix it, and he has a small but nonzero chance to win. I wish we could have him.

Aren't you tired of everything having to be at minimum a national issue, and often a geopolitical issue? Wouldn't it be nice to have a government that takes a break from the big stuff and just focuses on the little stupid annoyances in life for a while? Imagine ten years of just fixing the little stupid stuff. How quickly would you feel it in your life?

By definition, anyone running for national office should be focusing exclusively on national or international issues. Everything more local is what state, county and municipal governments are for. (Example: usually when New York mayors make the news, it's for dealing with "little stupid stuff", like banning plastic drinking straws or everything Mamdani's been up to lately.)

wonko the sane?

You may test that assumption at your convinience.

Alright, so... when he wins, is it the person who ran or the character that has to assume the office?
