Are those "newspapers" as much a joke as the same-shaped ones we have in the US?

I'm watching the election results live (at time of writing) but Nigel Farage couldn't be bothered to attend.

Binface got around 9,000 votes, whereas Farage got around 22,000 votes. Hardly anyone clapped for Farage and he got at least one 'boo'.

And we have our concession speech.

Not the speech I hoped to hear tonight, but his positivity remains inspiring. Bring on the inevitable rematch.

An intergalactic space warrior with a bin on his head. Let's get it right.

I don't know if I should be shocked that Farage didn't show up tonight, but I am. From the outside I'm liking this idea of all the candidates watching the count together instead of having separate little watch parties. It looks fun. Not showing up because you don't want to be photographed next to the other candidates says a lot. He got a spectacle all right but not the one he wanted, and since it wasn't what he wanted he apparently lost all interest.

He lied about the reason too. He said Essex Police told him there was a threat and not to go when there was no such thing. Like you wrote, he's as thin-skinned as his orange, faecal counterpart over the pond and didn't want to be "mocked".

What a total wanker, an absolute coward, not showing up because he didn’t want to photographed next to a man with a bin on his head. The £5 million bribe money apparently “for security” isn’t enough, I see.

I don’t think this is quite the start of the fall of Führer Farage, having had almost as many returns from defeat as the Daleks, but its shows that he is vulnerable.

Biggest failure of the Trump second term was not deporting them.

Dunno how I feel about this, and them. Other than indifference.

I am, as I’ve said before, a republican. As in I support abolishing the monarchy entirely. Won’t happen in my lifetime, but that’s my unshiftable view on the matter.

I find those two individuals intensely annoying, due to all that attention-seeking and dragging out personal matters in public. However, I think Harry has a point. To some extent. The UK tabloid media treated his wife rather unpleasantly, constantly, for a very long time (and hardly disguised that it was mostly racially motivated). Exactly as his mother was. Relentlessly. I can see why that would be triggering for him. Which isn’t to excuse his behaviour, but I can see where it comes from. Particularly with our media always goading him further.

They’re annoying, but not *actively* harmful.

That’s a very low bar that astonishingly few ultra-rich manage to clear.

Granted I’m saying that as an American Citizen and not a British one where I and my lower public coffers might feel differently.

They should have voted Bin the first time. Nigel will end up hanging himself. He has the rope at this point.

Once again, no matter how evil individual UK politicians may be (and make no mistake, a solid majority do seem to be evil), they at least have rules they're expected to follow and most of them will at least hold each other accountable for breaking them.

It's like if the US government in 1973 was made mostly of Richard Nixons, but the ones who weren't caught doing Watergate are just as willing to throw the one that did under the bus.

If the other parties have any honor, they'll sit out the rematch and throw their support behind the Count. I'm sure they all want the seat for themselves, but if they really want to punish Farage there is no better way to do it than to have the bin win.

Great, right-wing terrorism. Let’s hope it gets treated as least as harshly as grandmothers carrying out peaceful environmental protests.

edit: apparently they’re a far-right paramilitary group called Patriot Platform.
