The dream for me is a beefy, Leader Class, "designed as Tankor first" figure, with a lil' Diagnostic Drone thrown in.

I'd rather Tankor get the full budget himself to be as beefy as possible. But I could see the Diagnostic Drone as a pack-in with a Pulse exclusive TM2 Megatron remolded with BM "tried to scrape off his beast mode" damage. And maybe a Titan Master to turn Optimal Optimus into Optimal Megatron.

I want a Cryotek before any other mucking about with the TM2 Megs mold.

I wouldn't mind getting Cryotek... plus additional redecos in green, black, and white. But given that Hasbro couldn't even complete the set of Diceling dragons, I won't be holding my breath for that.

Cloak mode or no sale much grumbling but still a sale who am I kidding.
Would need the Control Harness to complete the look (especially since his real arms get hidden beneath the cloak), which would probably bump the price up to either Commander class or some standalone boxed set released as an exclusive.

Honestly, my preference would be to ignore accuracy and have the control harness directly built in. Burdening the dragon mode with some extra junk might be inaccurate but would it really feel wrong?

Just hang the harness from the ceiling when the figure's in dragon mode.

Or simply don't transform it out of robot mode.

Either option would be show-accurate in some regard. ;)

I've always loved how the toy versions of the Vehicons were basically concept designs so you ended up with sometimes very different takes on the same characters. Mattel has been making a lot of concept design figures in MOTU over the last few years.

I don't care about accuracy. What I want is to watch the color scheme change from one mode to the other, without having an extra module do the work. This is the one time I want a shellformer.

Basically I want this with arms.

Kicking myself for having slept on this release at the time. And in these colors it's even better.

Check eBay. I think I got mine in 2017 or 2018 and it was still only $15. Beast Machines aftermarket prices have been rising exceptionally slowly.

It's not a great toy but contemporary reviews were absolute nonsense. It's not a Deluxe in Mega packaging. You'll know when you feel the weight.

That's kind of unusual. I tried looking for a Hammerstrike a few years ago and prices were kind of wild.

I may put this on the list. Still would love a new version, though.. Maybe it'll get a redeco I can repurpose as this guy.

Early Beast Machines was REALLY over saturated and over shipped. By the time Battle for the Spark came around, there was still stuff from wave 1 lagging about and retailers were just totally OVER Beast Machines. Those later releases, especially those never reused in RiD01 or Universe, were always pricier.

Megas (aside from Blast Punch Primal) managed to keep their pricing down for a LONG time because the size class was always poorly managed and sold even poorer. I actually got a Mega Rattrap from BBTS in 2012-ish (maybe a bit earlier) for $15 and shipping because BBTS stepped up and bought heavily into the back end of the line (especially with Battle Unicorn).

After 25 years, seems the aftermarket inventory has dried up enough that in package samples are actually starting to appreciate.

BM ”Minitron” is a pretty solid encapsulation of why Mega was such a poor price point. Too many figures felt like designs that were “plus up’d” out the deluxe range with gimmicks, or a design that really needed the budget of the Ultra class to be viable. Not to say that there weren’t really good Megas (The Transmetals and Tankorr, or even BM Rattrap, stand out to me as really good ones), but the way Kenner/Hasbro was handling the price point just didn’t work on many levels.
