so like...at what point do the mods step in to give him a little nudge about his behavior here? i mean i know he ain't exactly breaking the site rules but like...idk i feel like linking to your own thread that hasn't been posted in since the end of 2023 (and you were the only person who ever posted in it) because you think the conversation should go there is weird, at the very least.
Additionally... insisting that we can only talk about Kiss Players in a thread about sex is incredibly dumb. The Kiss Player-inspired figures that spurred on this discussion don't even have anything to do with the questionable part of that franchise.
It's not like he's gonna make the trek to Botswana to pick up a set anyway.
My buddy Modisaotsile at The Corner Store always puts the good stuff aside for me.
So anyway, I too thought the keytar and guitar were two different accessories. That's pretty clever that one turns into the other!
The super nuts thing would have been to pack in repaints of Animated Laserbeak and Ratbat, but what they did is pretty cool too.
My biggest issue with the Jem set is that it's barely Jem related. Blaster of course has a Jem-inspired deco, but the Kiss Players cassettes seem to be the driving inspiration here.
Still, I think that's just the latent Jem fan in me. I'd have loved a Rockin' Roadster figure and some 3.75" Jem figures.
It's not this set's fault it's not what I arbitrarily decided I wanted it to be though. It is, on its own merits, a very cool set.
It would have been cool if they had been Animated Laserbeak and RatBat homages, but one turning into the other is also cool!
When I saw what looked like joints/rivers on the guitar, I thought the Animated beast partner was where they were going with it. And why not, just add to the menagerie. But this was also a solid route to take.
We don't get enough transforming accessories anymore. This is awesome.
Then the set's awful dirty secret is revealed: All the cassette bots are mixtapes from when JEM was a kid singing into her old recorder. The songs were awful. The acoustics in her old bedroom weren't great so she did it in the bathroom. Partway through one of them you can hear her family banging on the door demanding someone else be able to get in there. She's yelling back that they just blew her third attempt. Arguments ensue. The recording cuts off. And then the next song stats!
Honestly, I agree. This set might be the weakest Collab, since there really is almost nothing Jem about it. It feels like they wanted to the the KP cassettes but needed an excuse to do so. Cuase lets be honest, they really are the main draw of this set.
Okay, I'm still catching up on four more pages of this, so I hope it hasn't already been said, but try this on for size:
