Normally, I'd be happy to support a Patriotic-themed Transformer on the 250th anniversary of the founding of the country. The fact that the anniversary happens to fall under THIS administration has made the concept far more problematic (for me, let alone anyone or anywhere else) than it really should have been.

Okay. I was clarifying the purpose of the piece, not the timing of its release or whether or nor you should buy it.

Like, if I was interested in getting into that discussion, believe me, the last ten years would only scratch the surface of why I think its a problematic celebration.

It's hilarious looking back at that time period where just after the period that they made too many Voyager tanks, there were so few that they had to choose a skeletal, bird-footed samurai with no ranged weaponry to represent G2 Megatron.

I just hate that the mold destroys itself in like three different ways

That mould got to be Megatron, Banzaitron, and Overlord. Not bad for something so clearly designed to be Bludgeon and no one else!

Just early to mid 2010s Hasbro (and Hasbro adjacent) things. I actually kind of miss that energy.

Hell, I'd like a remake of this design with those retools pre-planned. Obviously ditch the auto melting treads and find a new approach for the hands and non-rubber swords. But have a bit more in the retooling budget to add at least the chest and feet (keep the design samurai-ish with the swords and skirts, just change up more from the skeleton motif). I remember vaguely considering the GDO Megs for a Megaempress repurpose before I found out about the melting problem.

Peripherally related: also just make a damn G2 Megatron-focused mold already, Hasbro. Shelf chest and wide torso and huge shoulder railgun and all. There's a handful of redecos and retools built into it, and nothing's stopping you from using it for a silver/gray G1 Megatron as well if you want. (Even the Siege mold is partway there; just have the pointy front BE the chest instead of them being two separate things.)

This feels like an extreme reaction to people wanting a samurai tank Megatron and some repaints/remolds.

At least, I don't think anyone has gotten that fanatical about it yet...

Finally opened twin mill! To summarize my experience:

Why aren't these hugging wrist blasters FITTING?!?!?! *remembers the one step I missed. You know which one.*

Otherwise fine. Arms are understandably kind of spindly, but otherwise poses well, and lovely paint application.

I was thinking more along the lines of something to sell around the actual World Cup venues. Kind of like EVAC being sold at the end of the Transformers ride at Universal Studios.
