This feels…bad. I don’t know why, but I just got this “pit” in my gut telling me this is tremendously BAD. Maduro may be a crap person and a alleged drug trafficker…but he was still, nominally, the head of a sovereign nation. This amounts to international kidnapping and assault on a foreign nation without due cause. Not only that, but this will MASSIVELY disrupt the country’s economic functions. China is reportedly one of Venezuela’s biggest crude oil buyers, and have major ties with Russia.
While Trump still seems pally with Putin, ties with China are strained already after the whole tariff fiasco last spring. Who is to say that China won’t sanction the US over this, which would have DIRECT impact on practically all sectors of our economy.
From a broader international perspective…Trump is showing himself to be even MORE of an unstable element than he already has. This will have PROFOUND consequences.

GW Bush had a large amount of support from both parties in Congress, this is WORSE. Venezuela is a major trade partner with Russia and China. This act will destabilize things further...... Putin will hate this, I'm sure, but at the same time it will lessen the US's standings in international diplomacy, which he will take advantage of.

Not so much, apparently maduro's lieutenants are still out there and in control. Other than starting a few fires, and opening a minute power vacuum: nothing has changed.
Yea, as with anything in this administration, this is about Trumps own ego and power, nothing more, nothing less. We likely just plunged Argentina into civil war as Maduro's enablers jockey to replace him and Trump is patting himself on the back.
