John Warden just couldn't fathom people wanting to own a motorcycle (and a space shuttle) the same size as a car.Legends class Groove was the answer to a problem nobody was having in the first place.

I don't think that was it.John Warden just could fathom people wanting to own a motorcycle (and a space shuttle) the same size as a car.
It might have also been residual mentality from the realistic vehicle mode scales of the live action movies, which the first few Bay-directed films prided themselves on making sure all of the robots with real Earth altmodes were to scale with each other in robot mode based on the relative scales of their altmodes. Like, smaller altmodes meant smaller robot modes and such.I don't think that was it.
I think he and his team misinterpreted fan memes about Groove and Blast Off's scale issues as genuine criticism and so they worked to correct what they thought was a problem.
And were genuinely surprised when fans went "we want Deluxe Groove and shuttle Blast Off."
Legends class Groove can plug into Rook in leg mode. People did that to simulate Groove being CW Defensor's leg before Takara went and made their own Deluxe class Groove for UW.
But a Jet and Tank the same size as a car is perfectly fine.
Quite possibly. Prime Wars was essentially a transitional period between Universe 2.0/RtS/T30 and the modern run of Generations that started with Siege. Makes sense that they'd have a bit of that mentality left over.It might have also been residual mentality from the realistic vehicle mode scales of the live action movies...

Jet Blast Off never felt "right" to me even if I adore the alt mode they gave him (Harrier jump jet). Maybe it was the lack of a sufficiently Blast Off-y head?
Rook, however, was an excellent figure. In the end I prefer Groove because I'm a basic bitch, but Rook really was a CW standout mould.
I'm annoyed he didn't get any domestic redecoes. New guy, good mold, distinctive altmode, combiner limb-- kind of checked all the boxes. Yeah, he was retooled, but that's not really the same.I've never had a figure of the Rook mold despite wanting one. I missed it during CW, and it's always been juuuuust a bit too expensive to justify on ebay ever since. One of these days I just need to bite the bullet and buy him.
I'll feel like an idiot once I hear the obvious answer, but I'm blanking on the "FF" in the file name.
