AHA! So it is! Damn you, GXE18 for going back in time and stealing my idea BEFORE I EVEN HAD IT! The perfect crime.
You should see what CoffeHorse named the Dirge-colored Wheelie pic. ;)

I see you found the original plans for CW Afterburner.
You jest, but the original plans were to use the Legends class mold for Afterburner while the Rook mold would be redecoed into a Technobot version of Ironfist renamed Ironclad, using the mold's unused Brawl pretool head.

Afterburner is probably my favorite Technobot, so I don't want to see him relegated to tiny-man status, but I do like that Ironclad and would be happy to have a "spare" Technobot!

Ehh, the original was chunky too, and a drill tank isn't exactly going to be slender. Either way, I'd prefer it to the Brawl mold.

I wish we had gotten more "extra" team members for the CW runs. Rook and Alpha Bravo and Offroad were cool to have, even after the other dudes were released.

Personally I think both are jivety takes on the character, but I've never understood why people like Takara's version. When I think Takara I think "cartoon accurate" and well:

It just fails massively there. Brawlcone isn't much better, and I'm not defending him as I just like the colors he's in. But Takara's Nosecone just seems completely at odds with their usual way of doing things. They made whole new molds of Blastoff and Groove to try to be accurate, but here they just half ass a previous toy.

Here's his proper model for further comparison:

The color layout is mostly there. It's just brown was used in place of magenta, for whatever reason.

Is that how we ended up with Legends Class Wreck-Gar?

If they went with the original plan, I assume they would have used the Groove mold since none of the Technobots were 100% original, would smol Afterburner have been able to integrate into Computron?

Which comes back to Shadwing's original issue: Takara is so hard for animation accuracy, using brown (not even the og toy's dark brown) instead of magenta is out of character for them.

Oh, its not just the colors though; its that literally nothing is accurate. Even if we ignore color all together; there's still no similarities in robot modes and the drill tank mode is squashed flat with a Viagra sponsored drill. Again, Takara literally made a new Blast-off and Groove to be as animation accurate as possible, almost to Blast-off's detriment because they didn't like Legends sized Groove or Jet-Off. Nosecone by comparison, is lazy. And this ignores how they also remolded those previous two molds for this set and they still end up feeling more accurate then Nosecone. So Realistically, a new mold Nosecone probably wouldn't have happened due to just about everyone in the set being remolded to some degree (I think only Lightspeed isn't besides the head) but it still just sticks out to me that they remolded Rook rather then Brawl; since at least then Nosecone would have tread arms and they could fix the mold's flaws.

Overall, this is just why Computron is top of my list for wanting the current team to redo, as Neither Hasbro or Takara's nails him (and my personal one is a mix of both and toyhax stickers) but I know he likely won't come till after Defensor.

Legends class Groove can plug into Rook in leg mode. People did that to simulate Groove being CW Defensor's leg before Takara went and made their own Deluxe class Groove for UW.
