Which they could only do because Shedder was a robot* and everyone knows robots are fair game for mutilation and thus approved for all ages. Just another in the long list of why their revolution will be brutal.

*yes I know they amalgamated Krang and Shredder, but its still a robot body.

Sure.

But we didn't know that in the moment.

Which is what made it so cool.

And to my original point, do I even need to bring up Baxter Stockman? Even ignoring the stuff that they didn't show on TV, that was still pretty brutal.

Not to mention all of the gratuitous gore featured in the show's fourth season. The Baxter body horror episode alone speaks volumes of that.

An Amazon delivery? That's odd. I can only think of one thing I have pre-ordered, but that's not supposed to arrive until Dec...em...wow! While you're thinking about it, time just drags on. When you're not thinking about it, it sneaks up on you.

And a comparison with the original I already had.

Yeah, I'm thinking maybe it was time for a new copy.

Well, it looks good in most ways. It has bits that weren't in the original release I show above. But it is the same comic...like...same comic with directors cut material added in. That's really nice. There's also the page layout plans as well. Also nice. There is one thing that's bugging me though.

Not just this frame. That part of Shredders helmet is red throughout the entire comic. I can't fathom why. It wasn't like that in the original.

But like I said, given the shape my original is in, it's nice to have a re-release of this. Just wish I could understand that coloring choice.

The forehead crest being red reminds me of the Tengu demon Shredder from the 2003 cartoon's fifth season.

Yeah, that's what I was thinking.

Ugh, why can't IDW leave the classics alone?

Probably for the best they aren't likely doing Archie Sonic any time soon...

(Of course, as memory serves, Archie was already doing that themselves...)

The 2003 cartoon is FINALLY broadcasting live for free on Pluto TV's Totally Turtles channel!

As of this typing, the penultimate episode of Season 1, "Search For Splinter, Part 1", is just starting.

New issue of the mainline TMNT comic is out. Let's just say Splinter's going through it, ya'll.

New issue of TMNT Journeys is out today.

I dunno. It feels like the only time I have something to post is when a new comic issue is out. Feels like a bit of a rut.

Even all these years later I'm still blown away by how a movie from 1990 has better effects and better story than any TMNT movie ever made since. No ai, no cgi, just an amazing action story. Rubber suits and all.
Eh, to be fair, much of that movie's story was lifted from various parts of the Mirage comics, so it wasn't a completely original story work.

Yeah! It was a beat by beat recreation of the first issue with many other elements thrown in. That's why it's a great story. It didn't deviate from the source, it embraced it. With some liberties taken by integrating some of the Fred Wolf/Playmates stuff like the colored bandannas and their love for Pizza.

So have you ever gone through the toy isle and saw something and it's like "no, I already have a few dozen versions of that same character already." So you don't get it. Then a couple weeks later you're going through the toy isle and it's like "no, I already have a few dozen versions of that same character already." So you don't get it. Alright, so hold onto your butts!

Shortly after the wii launch, I was in an independent game store (oh for the days when those actually existed...) in montreal, and I saw a metroid lunch box full of wii mote covers and such. Some promotional thing I guess, I didn't really follow metroid. And I knew I was going to get it. Was sure of that more than anything else in my life. But I didn't buy it. Too expensive.

And I had the exact same thought and feeling every single time of the coming years I visited the store, as that lunch box sat on the top shelf opposite the till...

Finally, more than a decade later; AS THE STORE WAS LIQUIDATING FOR FINAL CLOSURE... I bought it at 75% off.

Still got it too. The wiimote covers and things went with all the old console stuff last year... but I kept the lunchbox. Cause it was awesome.
